Synopsis

The expedition of a small team eager to capture the wild and their introspective experiences, through the challenges of isolation.

The «Objectif Sauvage» team mission is to bring unique images of several places that have never been filmed before.

An adventure based on the formula: «get lost, to find yourself» in the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park, one of the most remote places and preserved in the Amazon.

Summary

The aim of the expedition «Objectif Sauvage» is to offer viewers a different perspective on the various steps of such a large endeavor, set in one of the most inaccessible and untamed places on Earth.

Within the glorious national park «Noel Kempff Mercado», located in the Bolivian Amazon, the crew aims to share the emotions, discoveries and inherent challenges that are an integral part of successfully completing such an adventure.

It is through their own experiences behind cameras that they wish to discover and share, through a compelling cinematographic piece, one of the least explored places in the world by recording with sound and image the diversity of species living within the various ecosystems of the park.

The making of this documentary will be conducted in a small team and it is in complete self-reliance that they will bring to fruition a sizeable, Swiss-made audiovisual piece of the upmost professional quality, thanks to the use of cutting-edge cinematographic material and techniques.

Project’s birth

It was on the way back from one of Cedrik’s journeys in South America that the idea for this film came to be. Discovering this land, its people, the diversity of its landscapes, its wildlife and its surroundings has literally blew his mind.

First and foremost, the team had to select a secluded site that offered ideal surroundings for the development of wild plant and animal life, but also a relatively unknown site from which we could successfully spike the public’s interest and curiosity.

The Amazon rainforest is astoundingly vast and spreads across many countries. That being said, the part within the Bolivian borders is undoubtedly the least visited and least in demand. It is by focusing the research on that idea that we have discovered this magnificent park, nestled in the heart of the Bolivian Amazon.

Motivations

«Who has never dreamt of exploring a wild and unknown universe?»

Being deeply involved in our social lives of the modern era, we want to illustrate the trip as a form of isolation in a place untouched by civilization and outside of the stressful world we live in today. Centered around our own desires, our own thirst for discoveries, we want above all, to submerge the viewers into this adventure. Our idea is to create a strong emotional bond by identifying the protagonists of the adventure with the viewers. The film must transcend a televised narrative and offer a distinctly documentary and instructional aspect, representing accurately and to the fullest the very personal stories that our three actors will live through.

Locations

The park is located in the northern part of the Santa Cruz department in Bolivia. In 2000, it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is one of the largest and least explored areas within the Amazon.

With heights above sea level ranging from 200m to nearly 1’000m it offers a multitude of different habitats, such as the Amazon’s evergreen forests or wild savannas. The park shelters many species that are either endangered or nearing extinction on a global scale.

WIldlife

As of 2006, the park is home to more than 130 species of mammals , such as rare river otters, Amazon river dolphins, Brazilian tapirs, spiders and howler monkeys, the giant armadillo, giant anteaters, bush dogs, maned wolves, marsh deers, giant otters and endangered jaguars, including a population of black jaguars.

The park shelters 617 different species of birds, 74 different species of reptiles, 62 species of amphibians, 250 species of fish, 350 different kinds of insects, in heights above sea level ranging from 200m to nearly 1’000m.

Why crowdfunding

Who says ambitious project, says significant resources. To achieve this film, we must commit to significant logistics and rely on a strong team in Bolivia. In order to join Laguna Chaplin requires for example the rehabilitation of a new airplane landing field and the opening of a path through the dense and thick jungle. We need professional guides and people to help us carry our production equipment. All of this costs a lot of money and combined with the normal film production costs it represents a substantial budget that is essential to collect before departure.

Given the unique artistic direction of our project and our desire to immerse the viewer into this expedition as if he was part of our team, the funding solution via crowdfunding appeared to us as obvious. Indeed, today, we call on you, as this film is also a bit yours, because you’ll live it with us!

Living Amazone Initiative

As the preservation of the Amazon basin is a real concern for our team, we wanted to take concrete action to protect it. Thus, we decided to meet 2% of the overall budget of our film and donate it to the organization created by the WWF, «Living Amazon Initiative» whose main goal is to focus on the most pressing environmental threats through the various habitats of the Amazon.

Because our aim is to encourage the viewer’s interest in tickling his curiosity about this wonderful environment, this is not only a film that we want to share, but it is also a message!

Budget

As of today, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors we have reached a percentage of the total budget. However, your support is crucial for us. As you can see on the diagram below, crowdfunding is an important part of the overall financing plan. Though we are happy to have reached 80% of the total budget, mainly by our own funds, it is essential to raise the remaining 20% in order to achieve our goals and finalize our film.

About the trailer

It’s been several years since we’ve traveled around the world with our cameras in our respective journeys. As we want to offer you a glimpse of what we have in mind, it seems appropriate to offer you a little taste of our expertise.

The images used for the video trailer were entirely filmed and edited by us in order to give you the desire to discover more.

Partners

We are fortunate to have several technical and financial partners. Without their participation, we could not envisage making this film. We are honored to present their logos here.
