    The egg

You are the egg of a duck flea. In recognition of that role, we are sending you a postcard created especially for the occasion which describes the complete life cycle of this parasite. Your support will be acknowledged at the exhibition «Beach Alert!» which opens on 9 June at the Natural History Museum of Geneva.

  • CHF 20.-14 vergeben

    The miracidium

The miracidium stage of the duck flea is the moment when it infects lake snails. It is covered in fine hairs. You have the right to a thank-you postcard and a beautiful A3 poster of the «Beach Alert!» exhibition which opens on 9 June at the Natural History Museum of Geneva. Your support will be acknowledged at the exhibition.

  • CHF 50.-19 / 150 vergeben

    The mother sporocyste

The insides of lake snails are duck flea production lines. This deserves a postcard, a poster of the «Beach Alert!» exhibition and a free entry to the Nuit des musées (valid before 26.05.18) on the fascinating theme of animal journeys. Your support will be acknowledged at the exhibition.

  • CHF 100.-9 / 500 vergeben

    The daughter sporocyste

Thousands of duck flea larvae have reached maturity. Don’t panic! Most will be eaten the moment they leave the snail. We explain all this during a guided tour for one person (or one adult and one child) of the «Beach Alert!» exhibition at the Natural History Museum with one of the project’s scientists. And you will leave with a photo, a postcard and an A3 poster of the exhibition. Your support will be acknowledged at the exhibition.

  • CHF 200.-4 / 50 vergeben

    The cercaria larva

You are now at the stage which irritates swimmers. To increase your understanding of the itching, we are offering a visit for one person (or one adult and one child) to our laboratories and to our invertebrate and bird collections. You will leave with a postcard, a small poster of the exhibition, and a collector's T-shirt. Your support will be acknowledged at the exhibition.

  • CHF 300.-2 / 25 vergeben

    The larva without a tail

Entry is via the duck’s feet but the tail is left at the door. Just a «head» is enough for the larva to begin its transformation into a worm. If you need to be convinced, we invite couples or families to observe a laboratory session during which the larvae are made to leave the snails. You will leave with a postcard, a small poster of the exhibition, as well as a collector’s T-shirt. Your support will be acknowledged at the exhibition.

  • CHF 400.-0 / 25 vergeben

    The worm

Scientists very rarely see this: it’s the worm, the adult form of the duck flea which develops in the liver of our poor ducks. Talking of waterbirds: would you like to accompany one of our ornithologists to observe them? It’s magic, especially in winter. While you are waiting for the best season, you will receive a postcard, a small poster of the exhibition, and a collector's T-shirt. Your support will be acknowledged at the exhibition.

  • CHF 500.-0 / 20 vergeben

    Trichobilharzia

With this donation you will never again say «duck flea» but Trichobilharzia. This is the scientific name of the worm which is definitely not a flea. We will invite you to half a day in the field. Bring the person of your choice, your swimming costume and snorkelling gear so that you can closely follow our scientists collecting snails. And you will leave with a postcard, a small poster of the exhibition, and a collector's T-shirt. Your support will be acknowledged at the exhibition.

  • CHF 750.-0 / 10 vergeben

    The snail

You are the intermediate host of the duck flea. Name one of the two beaches to be studied and accompany the scientists to collect a sample: an unforgettable experience in the world of scientific research. While you are waiting for the right conditions, you will receive a postcard and an A3 poster of the exhibition as well as a collector's T-shirt. Your support will be acknowledged at the exhibition.

  • CHF 1’000.-0 / 5 vergeben

    The duck

You are the other victim (the real one) of the duck flea. If you have a diving certificate, you are invited to take part in the collection of lake snails with our scientists. When you come out of the water, you will be offered an exclusive collation on the beach dressed in a collector's T-shirt. Your questions will be answered. Your support will be acknowledged at the exhibition.

The duck flea at the Museum

Duck fleas don’t live only in the lake. They are also part of our collections. Come behind the scenes at the Natural History Museum during an evening organised specially for you and your colleagues around the theme of fleas, ducks and their world. Dress (supplied): a collector’s T-shirt. Evening buffet and guided visits to the collections: an original idea for your company outing (max. 30 people). Your support will be acknowledged at the exhibition.
