Once a month, it becomes magical in Willisau.
We invite children to a special storytelling hour – with tales from different universes, strong heroes, clever animals, and courageous characters. A space to listen, to wonder, and to dream.

Afterwards, there will be a small creative session – drawing, asking questions, or simply lingering a little longer in the story.

For the crowdfunding campaign, we are releasing only a limited number of spots. With your contribution, you secure a place for the first storytelling season while also supporting the development of our children’s and family program.

Once a month, we open the shop after closing time for shared silent reading. Everyone brings their own book or discovers one on site. We begin with a short welcome – then read quietly for 60 minutes. Afterwards, there’s an opportunity to stay, have a drink, and connect.
A protected space for focus, exchange, and literary community.

We invite you to a children’s afternoon at fome books in Willisau: «Lia am Ball – The Football Fairytale of Her Life» will be presented at our shop – possibly followed by a book signing.
This lovingly told children’s book shares the story of Swiss professional footballer Lia Wälti and how she courageously pursues her dream together with her friends. An inspiring afternoon about team spirit, perseverance, and believing that big dreams can come true.

In the book «Was ich dir nicht sage», Anja Nunyola Glover engages deeply with her personal story and the structures of racism.
While recovering from a back injury, she reflects on the emotional weight this injury has triggered. In each chapter, she weaves together autobiographical experiences with critical social analysis, powerfully illustrating how profoundly racism permeates everyday life.

Die Luzerner Autorin Monika Mansour kommt für eine Lesung zu fome books nach Willisau.
Monika Mansour gehört zu den bekannten Stimmen der Schweizer Kriminalliteratur. Ihre Geschichten führen immer wieder in die Innerschweiz – an Orte, die viele kennen: in Dörfer, Wälder und Landschaften rund um Luzern und den Napf.
Aufgewachsen auf einem Bauernhof im Zürcher Unterland, entwickelte sie schon früh eine Faszination für menschliche Geschichten, Abgründe und Geheimnisse. Ihr Weg zur Schriftstellerin war alles andere als geradlinig: Sie arbeitete als Augenoptikerin, führte eine Whiskybar, arbeitete am Flughafen Zürich und viele Jahre als Tätowiererin in Sursee. All diese Erfahrungen prägen ihre Figuren und ihre Geschichten.
2014 erschien ihr erster Krimi beim Emons Verlag, inzwischen sind mehrere erfolgreiche Schweizer Krimis gefolgt – darunter auch «Tod auf dem Napf», der ganz in unserer Region spielt.
Ein spannender Abend mit regionaler Kriminalliteratur – über Menschen, Motive und die dunkleren Seiten scheinbar idyllischer Orte.

Am 1. Februar 2026 liest Talel Aronowicz bei fome books in Willisau aus ihrer Graphic Novel Flug 111 – und reist dafür extra aus Paris an.

Der Absturz des Swissair-Flugs 111 im Jahr 1998 prägte Talels Familie tief: Als siebenjähriges Kind verlor sie ihre Grosseltern, die sich auf der Rückreise von New York nach Genf befanden. Jahrzehntelang wurde über dieses Ereignis geschwiegen.

Mit ihrer Graphic Novel bricht Talel Aronowicz dieses Schweigen. In Zeichnungen und Gesprächen mit ihrer Familie versucht sie zu verstehen, wie ein solches Ereignis Beziehungen, Erinnerungen und Identität prägt.

Ein berührender Abend über Trauer, Erinnerung und die Kraft von Geschichten – und darüber, wie Kunst helfen kann, lange verdrängte Fragen sichtbar zu machen.
