The Project: A free OFF FESTIVAL at the Blues Rules Crissier Festival 2025

Bring the whole town of Crissier to life with the friendly sounds of the Blues. Blues is above all a music that brings people together and allows them to exchange ideas. Since 2010, the Blues Rules Crissier Festival has been illustrating these values at its annual festival, and in 2025, to celebrate its 15th anniversary, we’ve decided to give the Crissiers who welcome us the greatest gift of all: a free OFF! The festival will be celebrating its 15th anniversary from June 5 to 8, 2025, and we need your support to make this great celebration of the blues an unforgettable event!

While the Blues Rules Crissier Festival as it takes place in Montassé is an event with a fair financial balance, the free OFF requires an additional investment that this campaign will help secure.

What is Blues Rules ?

FROM MISSISSIPPI TO CRISSISSIPPI

Sponsored by the famous American bluesman Kenny Brown, the Blues Rules Crissier Festival is one of the three main blues festivals in Switzerland, and a major event among European blues festivals. It’s an event on a human scale, with a warm, family-friendly, festive and convivial atmosphere, and a programming quality praised by professionals and audiences alike.

In a cultural landscape where the offer is multiplying as much as it is replicating itself, Blues Rules is a festival that offers a program that is unique in Switzerland (REALLY UNIQUE!) and rich in European exclusivities. Numerous American artists have crossed the Atlantic for the first time in their lives to play in Crissier, while Swiss and European revelations have taken their first steps on the Blues Rules stage, only to find themselves a few years later at Montreux Jazz or Paléo.

By taking up the challenge of exploring the blues and its heirs, in all its forms and from all over the world, the festival has created a unique offering, far removed from music business standards. This asserted and carefully maintained artistic line has made Blues Rules a festival with a strong identity, and a landmark event that has become a benchmark in blues and festival circles.

In short, it’s all about

  • a unique musical offering in Switzerland
  • a springboard for the Swiss scene
  • a rare proximity to the artists
  • strong human and artistic values
  • a unifying musical style
  • a complete experience in the heart of Crississippi
  • a strong identity
  • an all-volunteer organization
  • minimal ecological impact

This is what We need backing for.

Get the whole town of Crissier vibrating to the sound of conviviality (and) the Blues. And that means free events all over Crissier:

The Library: The CRISSIER LIBRARY will be hosting a number of blues-related events to celebrate the festival’s 15th anniversary (meetings with authors and musicians, a selection of blues-related books, an exhibition…).

Streets: One of the most Crissipian traditions of Blues Rules is the parade of Crissier’s Old Tractors, rolling their trailers overflowing with musicians all around the village, with plenty of breaks for memorable acoustic jams and lots of laughs. The caravan traverses all Crissier districts, from Pré Fontaine to Oassis via the Village, culminating around midday at the bottom of rue d’Yverdon, between the fountain and the baker’s terrace.

Chisaz: Located under the Chisaz canopy, the Tremplins stage will feature an evening of concerts by 6 winners of the Tremplins Blues Rules since 2019: David Minster, Papa Wolf, Wet Rugs, Snake Doctor, Wolverine and Voodoo Blues

Back to the castle: As there won’t be enough two days to celebrate these 15 years, the festival adds a 4th day and reinvests the gardens of the Château de Crissier for a Sunday. The program includes an American BBQ, children’s concerts (LES PETITS CHANTEURS À LA GUEULE DE BOIS) and a selection of American and Swiss bands performing acoustic concerts on the castle lawn.

Why help the Blues Rules Crissier Festival?

Free tickets cost money!

The festival was never intended to generate profit, make money or be a successful business. Every year we do our utmost to accommodate the bands, the audience and the volunteers.

Organizing a free OFF requires the rental of several additional stages for 2 days, with sound and lighting equipment, sound and light technicians, and musicians to pay. There are also costs associated with a little infrastructure and welcoming the public.

The first stage of this financing will not cover all needs, but will serve as a deposit for the booking.

If the target is exceeded, there will be fewer sponsors to find in order to finalize the budget.
