Misant sur l’innovation le CPG se veut un laboratoire de recherche de nouvelles formes pour présenter et penser la photographie en lien avec la société contemporaine. Fondé en 1984, le CPG présente 4 à 7 expositions par an, et publie 2 à 4 livres de photographies aux «éditions Centre de la photographie Genève». Depuis 2003 le CPG organise la triennale de photographie 50JPG.
