Dear friends,
We have some great news! The final sealing has been done, so all that remains is to take down the structural supports (That will happen on January 21st), finish off some details, and the job is done.
There were some problems. The water tanks were in worse condition than originally thought, so they had to be replaced. The water was cut off from the whole neighbourhood when they needed to mix the cement. Building materials were hard to come by because of the tornado, so everybody needed them.
But despite these setbacks, Julio and Emna got the job done with their ingenuity and hard work! This would have been impossible without your support!
Now there’s nothing for us to do except to celebrate. So, Annina and I would like to invite you all to drinks at ours on January 25th. It’d be great if you could come along. If you can’t make it, please just remind me that I owe you next time you see me, and I’ll be happy to pick up the tab.
See you,
Robert

The money transfer worked fine and Julio has been doing a great job finding the materials. The steel was especially hard to find so the remaining materials will hopefully become easier. Cement should arrive today or tomorrow. The estimated time for the roof to be finished is somewhere around Christmas or a bit after. The bad news is that the water tanks are in bad condition, but they have a plan to repair them. It’s been raining a lot, which hasn’t helped. The family remains optimistic and the end is in sight. We’ll keep you posted.

Dear friends,
I’m speechless! And I’ll admit I have a tear in my eye. In just under 2 weeks, we’ve reached the target!! A huge thank you to everyone who contributed, shared the call, or otherwise sent encouragement and support. You guys are awesome!! Thanks to you all, there will be a roof! Emna reports: The work crew has been organised according to their skills and capabilities, and everybody knows what they have to do. There will be a support crew on hand to keep the volunteer workers fed. Spirits are already high. The first materials have been reserved, so once the money arrives, work can start almost immediately. The estimated time from starting work to taking away the temporary structural supports is about 23 days.
