A Space for wood crafts

by Ramona Hess

Bern

Woodturning – a craft that has become rare. I am grateful to have learned it and want to give it more visibility. In a prime location in Bern's old town, I have now the opportunity to do so.

Wood saved from the fire

I’m Ramona Hess - Woodturner & Designer from Bern. I primarily work with wood that is leftover from woodworking companies or doesn’t meet quality standards and would otherwise end up as firewood. Through handcrafted work, I create unique pieces that demonstrate the beauty and value of wood as a natural material. With my work, I want to create objects that tell stories, stimulate thought, and promote awareness of the environment and local craftsmanship.

By supporting my project, you are also contributing to the preservation and visibility of traditional craftsmanship.

«Where can people buy your products?»

I get asked this question a lot, but I can’t give a satisfactory answer. That’s about to change!

In a shop - Kaiserhaus - that focuses on sustainability and circularity, opening in Bern in April, I have the opportunity to showcase my products alongside well-known brands. For me, as a part-time woodturner/designer, this is a valuable platform to make my work and craft visible. There are also plans for events that will showcase and promote not only woodturning, but also other crafts.

Before the shop can launch and grow, some investment is needed, and you can support me in this.

Give craftsmanship visibility

I will use the funds for furniture, packaging, labeling/signage, further development of my concept, creation of a collection, and the first few months of rent.

In the long term, this financial support is not only a boost for my work, but also a contribution to the visibility and preservation of traditional craftsmanship.

Thank you very much for your support!
