Hurrah, at long last the day has come–our newly designed website (and replacement for Basel Life Magazine) has gone live! Thanks to the amazing support of many of our readers for our crowdfunding here we were able to raise the funds to start this next step on our journey to bring you important (and fun) information about life in Basel. Many, many thanks again to all of our supporters! We have attempted to make the new website as attractive, engaging, and useful as possible–something that we would enjoy using as well. It is not just an events calendar, although the calendar is certainly an important part. But we also will still bring you tips for excursions outside of Basel, a separate listing of the ongoing events (they are listed on the calendar for the current date, but not thereafter), as well as information about Sports & Recreation, about Life in Basel, and about Swiss and Basel Culture and Traditions. Basically, it’s the same content as the magazine, just in a different (and hopefully useful) format. We’ve started to fill the site with a lot of information, and that will of course be growing in the coming weeks. We have tried our best to make everything easy to use and functional, but there may of course still be some glitches. If you notice any problems, please let us know at info@basellife.com, so that we can try to fix them. In the meantime, have fun checking out the new site at the old address, www.basellife.com

Work is progressing on the design of Basel Life Digital, and we are now in the process of tweaking the first design drafts to make sure our new site will be functional and user-friendly as well as attractive. We are really exciting to see our ideas come to life, and we hope that the actually programming for the site can begin in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, we are again offering our free «mini-magazine» for download on our website, www.basellife.com, so you can still stay up to date with what is going on in Basel in October! We hope you can enjoy a «golden October» in Basel!

Our developers are working hard on the new Basel Life Digital! They have developed a rough draft of the wireframe for the new platform and are working on fine-tuning it as well as on some of the designs. It’s an involved process, but we certainly value quality over speed, and we are making progress! In the meantime, Basel’s cultural life doesn’t stop and in fact is picking up again after the summer holidays. To keep our readers and supporters informed, we have produced a «mini-magazine» that lists upcoming events in a format similar to what you are used to from our previous issues. You can download it from our website at www.basellife.com. Simply click on the image on our homepage to download the pdf. We will offer this until we can go live with our new platform!

Now that you all helped us to successfully conclude our crowdfunding campaign, development of Basel Life Digital can really proceed, and yesterday we had our kickoff meeting with the developers at the Bürgerspital. While we already had the general concept of what we want to achieve, we now can go into the details to figure out the best way to present all the information we provided in the magazine in an attractive and user-friendly digital format. We had a very productive meeting where we explained what we wanted and received valuable feedback. Now we can’t wait to see what they come up with! Stay tuned!

We are so excited that we managed to reach our goal at the last minute and can now proceed with developing Basel Life Digital! We will get started on that as soon as possible to minimize any delays between Basel Life Magazine and Basel Life Digital. We will keep you posted about our progress on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/basellifemagazine)! In the meantime, a HUGE THANKS to all our backer who helped us make this successful campaign possible! Christine and Susanne

Thank you so much to all the supporters who have donated to our campaign over the last week! We have made some great strides in our campaign thanks to your pledges! However, we still have a ways to go and need another CHF 10,000 to reach our goal. And there is only 1 more week to go!!! The campaign ends on June 28, at 12:14 pm–if we haven’t reached our target amount by then, we will receive nothing at all! So if you have been waiting to make your donation, please do it now! And if you have already made a donation but think of anybody else you could share information about our campaign with, please approach them soon! Let’s do it!

A big thank you to all backers who have added their pledge to our campaign over the past few days–we really appreciate your help to get us closer to our goal! (Although there is unfortunately still a long way to go… But we are not giving up hope!) Also, for those of you who have a business they would like to promote to Basel’s expat community (or work for a business that caters to the expat community): We offer several attractive options for you to use Basel Life Digital to reach more potential clients if you support us: If you pledge CHF 150, you will get a free advertisement for 1 month on our platform If you pledge CHF 400, you will get a free advertisement for 3 months If you pledge CHF 1500, you will get a free advertisement for 12 months If you pledge CHF 1000 or more but do not want to place advertisements, we will list you as a «Founding Sponsor» Even without all the new information that we are planning, our current website gets hundreds of visits per month, which is expected to only increase if we convert it to Basel Life Digital–it can be a great advertising avenue for you! Feel free to contact us if you have any questions!

A sincere thank you to everyone who has backed our project so far!!! We REALLY appreciate your support! However, unfortunately we have only barely reached one quarter of our goal so far–and there is only 2 weeks left to go on our campaign! We are trying to reach as many people as possible with information about our campaign (and the many wonderful rewards that we are offering for their support), so it would be just wonderful if you could help us further spread the word by talking to your friends, neighbors, club members, colleagues, boss, or HR person at work about our project. Basel Life Digital can benefit all of them–not only individual expats who can learn so much about life in Basel, but also to businesses who may find our platform a great great advertising opportunity! Thank you so much!
