GOOD HAY IS IMPORTANT FOR HORSES!
BEST OF HORSEHAY aims to sensitize farmers and riders to the sustainable use of grassland as a resource and to address the most important HEALTH ASPECTS of horses. We live with «dairy farming» and cow hay is not suitable for horses. There is a lot of catching up to do in hay production. Unfortunately, far too many horses have serious health problems, including the enormous number of lung problems, and we can help! We want to actively protect all horses!
With us you learn how to produce and evaluate quality hay suitable for horses, in two varieties for light-fed horses or rich hay, e.g. for senior horses. The training is systematically structured: from sowing to forage treatment, climate change, use of adequate technical aids in agriculture and general horse health as well as the latest scientific findings regarding the lung health of our horses.
The training is structured in the MODULSYSTEM by topic (production / health). 10 chapters with a total of 62 sub-chapters are equipped with videos and high-quality handouts. There is also a comprehensive literature list and SUPPORT from our core project team. The PRACTICAL DAYS will be a decisive educational point. The CONCLUSION takes place at three levels. Upon successful completion, the stable or producer is awarded a «STABLE GOODNESS SEAL» or «PRODUCTION GOODNESS SEAL» - as a dedicated roughage specialist.
The training is aimed at a wide variety of people/associations: Vocational schools, professional associations, equestrian clubs, equine owners, equine keepers, feed consultants, farriers, horse experts, producers (farmers, hay dealers, contractors), agricultural advisory centers and self-sufficient horse owners, veterinarians and therapists.
Health - well-being for our horses
With your contribution, you are supporting the general well-being of our equines and advocating for better horse health. Many horses suffer from chronic coughs, hay allergies or asthma. Genetically caused muscle diseases are on the rise and horses very often suffer from colic, stomach ulcers etc. due to poor nutrition. Some diseases cannot be cured. However, the symptoms can be alleviated with an adapted and high-quality roughage diet.
At the same time, you are supporting the entire economic chain in the sustainable use of grassland as a resource. It is a simple but indispensable element of our agricultural culture. 70% of agricultural land consists of grassland (artificial meadows, natural meadows and pastures). It may seem inconspicuous at first glance, but it is unique in its role in feeding equidae and maintaining pastureland. It has an important ecological function. Overall, hay is a very versatile element of our culture and agriculture. It is not only a raw material, but it also has great significance for our cultural heritage and our awareness of nature.
What happens to the collected money?
The initial team worked on a voluntary basis for two years. With the money available, we will start producing the training videos from 20.3.24. A total of 10 chapters with a total of 62 sub-headings. Your «wemakeit» donation will be used for the film edits and the placement of the content, 230 pages, on a training platform on the Internet. The training concept will also be translated into French. If we exceed the target, we can book professional help for the placement and advertising of the ONLINE TRAINING - so we can go ONLINE earlier and help our HORSES and their owners sooner.
