Presentation of our CD project
Contrechamps is partnering with the London-based ensemble Plus-Minus and Spanish label Neu Records to release a portrait CD of Bryn Harrison’s music in Surround Sound. Whereas most recordings are designed give the listener a ’frontal’ perspective, Neu Records has developed a distinctive approach to recording concert music, with microphones placed amongst the musicians to create a three-dimensional sounding space, which places the listener in the centre of the experience. The recordings are made in the natural acoustic of a concert hall, rather than in a studio.
Following its premier performance in Geneva on 24 September 2019, Contrechamps will record «How Things Come Together», and Plus-Minus will record «Repetitions in Extended Time» which they premiered at the 2008 Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. Harrison’s music is deliciously bewitching, and listening to it in an immersive way will allow the listener to dive right into it.
Release of the disc: October 2020 (perfect for Christmas gifts, a little early)
A surround recording
A unique surround recording method, which can be replayed in stereo, on a 5.1 Home Cinema, or presented as a sound installation in 9.1. The listener finds himself in the middle of the orchestra!
This is what I need backing for.
