Mystical and enigmatic portrayal through art of what’s like to be surrounded by cancer – The good, the bad, the insanity, the endless need to be & NOT be there.

«Z’s With Cheyne Stokes»... 8 months holding the hand of cancer.

How can someone just disappear? Let’s all play in a place we’ve never been.

The Concept

«Z’s With Cheyne Stokes» will take place on January 30th – February 1st, 2015 at Kunstraum Bellerive in Zurich, where video, photography, performance, and sound combine to recount a second-hand perspective on cancer and its impact on every aspect of life for those who live it and those around it.

The exhibition is nevertheless not a factual and obvious documentation of cancer but rather a mystical, poetic, and sublime representation of the most inner feelings that appear through the process of going from being alive, to ill, to no longer there. Through this project I want audiences to enter a disconcerting dream full of false hopes, confusion, pure love, anger and distorted acceptance.

The Team

For this project I have had the pleasure to work with the talented curator and artist Myriam Kirschke supporting the advertising and promotion as well as with creative assistance. Myriam is a visual artist, designer, and concept creator who has exhibited and worked in places like London, Barcelona, Florence, and Zurich, among others.

Why I need your Help

Deciding to do this project was very impromptu because as aforementioned it is inspired by recent events. Thus, like everything in life, momentum is quite important as the opportunities do not always remain and feelings sometimes fade to become vague memories.

I have invested in materials and pre-production but in order to make a truly powerful event that the audience can find memorable I still need (partial) help with:

  • Room rental
  • Equipment rental
  • Prints
  • Technical staff
  • Catering
  • Advertising and promotion
