CD recording with the music from Eduardo Falú, one of the most iconic musicians from Argentina.

Eduardo Falú was born in july, 1923. He is one of the iconic figures in the traditional argentine «folklore».

Arguably the creator of Argentina’s modern folk song movement, Falú has set over 150 poems to music. These have included Borges’ and Dávalos’, as well as those by León Benarós, Manuel J. Castilla, and Alberico Mansilla. Known for his Chamamé, Chacarera and Zamba compositions, Falú more recently composed two suites, Primera Suite Argentina (1996) and Segunda Suite Argentina (1999).

Largely self-taught, Falú deepened his knowledge of the guitar through study of the 19th century masters and was trained in harmony and theory by the prominent Argentine composer Carlos Guastavino.

His music was received very warmly in America as well as in Europe and Asia. Many awards and prizes crowned his artistic activities, such as «Premio Konex de Platino» and «Gran Premio SADAIC».

In august 2013 (with 90 years) Falú left the stages of life to transform his music into legend.

Although his work is very valuable, it is almost no longer interpreted this days. The pieces demand a very high guitar level and the musical language is unique.

There is very little musical material, so that the majority of the music selected for the project is transcribed from old recordings.

The composition of the invited musicians, the collaboration with the sound / recording technician and the good acoustics of the Neuer Saal of the Basel Music Academy will put the tribute to Eduardo Falú on a high quality stage.
