Circus workshops for young and old on the Farm

This project was born with the desire to combine agricultural activities and circus practice on the same site, the «Ferme de Trois-Rods». Since the beginning of the year/September, we’ve been welcoming a group of children living on and around the farm each week for a colorful circus session.

We offer workshops based on circus disciplines (juggling, acrobatics, aerialists, balancing, theater), but above all we bring a creative approach to self-expression through movement. Games and cooperative exercises, listening and mutual support are at the heart of our teaching methods.

Motivation and good energy are not lacking, but autumn is knocking on our door and the sun won’t be enough to keep us going outdoors… Fortunately, we have a warm, dry shelter among the many magical nooks and crannies of the Trois-Rods farm: a barn/space currently used as a wood workshop. Now all we need to do is turn it into a circus hall !

A meeting place between farming and circus arts

In a hamlet where the cultural offer is currently limited, this project will make circus practice available to all those who gravitate around the farm. The originality of this project lies in the meeting of two worlds that seldom rub shoulders: the rural environment and the circus arts.

Eventually, the circus space will also be able to host one-off events and artists-in-residence, thus promoting art and those who bring it to life. The farm is a singular place of exchange, life and proximity to nature, offering a lively, calm and inspiring environment.

The artist and the farmer have more in common than might appear at first glance. The commitments and ethics we uphold on this biodynamic farm echo those of the artist, in the questioning of our society, the dialogue with nature, and the search for human and environmental alternatives.

A place like this in a rural area would be a first in the region !

Rearranging a barn

The barn in which this project could take shape is currently used as a wood workshop. In order to practice circus arts, we need to carry out a certain amount of work, such as insulating the floor and roof, laying a floor and renovating the walls and windows.

In addition, circus practice requires specific facilities such as flooring suitable for acrobatics and movement, ceiling structures with solid aerial hooks, and good equipment in terms of circus gear (fabric, trapeze, tightrope, espaliers, landing mats, etc.).

These are relatively costly installations and technical equipment. Thanks to your financial support, the renovation work and the purchase of circus equipment can happen this autumn !
