Revival of the Balmhof in Brienzwiler
We are Cyril Kammer and Rhea Brand, a creative team from Brienz (BE). Cyril, 30 years old, is an artist while Rhea, 25 years old, works as a hairdresser.
Together we share a passion for art and creativity and are committed to creating a space that offers both creative development and opportunities for retreat.
We firmly believe that great things can be achieved as a team. In our spare time, we work on projects that benefit the community and are always looking for new ways to connect people and create synergies. Cyril’s previous experience in music and film production, including contributions for SRF and Netflix, has inspired us to pursue our vision.
We are currently working on a new space in the industrial zone of Brienz, which will serve as a music studio, event venue and creative retreat. There is a lack of such a place in our region and we want to change that. Our aim is to provide a platform for talented artists to realize their ideas and become visible.
We have already realized several film projects and plan to complete the renovation by January/February. We are currently in the process of painting the floor and decorating the bar. During this work we are documenting our progress to record the development of our project.

What is special about our project
Our project is very special because it aims to create a creative oasis in the Brienz region that benefits not only artists, but the entire community. At a time when many people are looking for opportunities to express themselves and develop their talents, we are offering a space that allows them to do just that.
Unique space for creativity and community: We plan to create a venue that will serve as both a music studio and an event space. Here, artists will have the opportunity to realize their projects professionally, be it in the form of music productions, films or theater performances. Our aim is to create a place that promotes creativity and brings people together.
Promoting talent: A central concern of our project is to provide a platform for unknown talent. Many artists do not have the financial means to realize their ideas professionally. We want to give them the opportunity to realize their art and make it visible. We focus on collaboration and exchange in order to promote a lively creative community.
A retreat for everyone: In addition to supporting artists, we also want to create a place where people of all ages can relax and be inspired. In our region, there is a lack of cozy spaces where people can relax after work or exchange ideas with like-minded people. We want to create a welcoming place that invites people to linger and offers space for creative ideas.
Diverse events: Our project involves not only using the studio, but also organizing events such as comedy shows, theater performances and art exhibitions. These events are designed to bring the community together and provide a platform for artists to showcase their work to a wider audience.
Sustainability and engagement: We place great importance on sustainability and want to use local resources to realize our project. We want to actively involve the community in the process and are convinced that together we can achieve great things.
