New roof after terrible fire
In autumn 2021, we fulfilled our long-awaited family dream: a house in the beautiful, unique and typical Ticino mountain village of Anzonico in Leventina.
Since birth, we have spent our holidays and numerous weekends with our parents and grandparents in the village. Our father, too, has always spent his holidays in Anzonico since he was a child.
With the purchase of the empty house, which stands in the middle of Anzonico, we wanted to bring more life back into the village and the abandoned house in the village centre. For this purpose, we started to renovate the building ourselves.
Unfortunately, fate struck. In the night of 05 to 06 July 2023, our dream, the entire house, with all the parts already renovated, was destroyed by a terrible fire. We lost everything.
Immense damage was done to and around the house. The inhabitants of the village are stunned and unspeakably sad with us.
The first thing to do is to build a new roof. For this purpose, we children are starting this project. If more money is collected, we will use it for the lower floors.
Already now we would like to thank you very much for your help! Your support helps the village centre to regain its old charm and our dream to live on.

Our family
We are a family of five. For three generations now, we have spent our best times in the beautiful Ticino mountain village of Anzonico. We love the village, its inhabitants and the charm of Ticino. Living in a small rented flat, we had the great fortune to buy a village house in the middle of Anzonico. Our dream was to renovate the house, revitalise it and create a meeting place in the centre of the village. But we also wanted it to be a retreat for the whole family, where we could directly enjoy Ticino in all its splendour.
From then on, we renovated the house ourselves, piece by piece, with our parents. We made good progress and it was foreseeable that we would be able to celebrate the first Christmas and New Year in the venerable house this year. The shock is still deep in our bones since we were informed at 01.30 in the night from 5 to 6 July 2023 that the whole building was ablaze. Because we rebuilt it ourselves, the grief is even stronger. Yes, a lot of energy, time, heart and work as well as a beautiful house in the village centre of Anzonico were destroyed that night.
The sympathy of the villagers was encouraging. We felt very much that they like us and are with us.
One should be allowed to have hope. We now dream of celebrating New Year’s Eve 2024 together with the village in the house.
This is what I need backing for.
