Who we are:
The Swiss Malaria Group is a network of research institutions, civil society, public and private sector that stands up for a world without malaria.
Switzerland is a center for pathbreaking research and development which is implemented on the ground by our members, like the Swiss TPH, Biovision, Solidarmed, the Swiss Red Cross, Medicines for Malaria Venture, FIND and Save the Children. Together, we strive to reinforce the pioneering role of Switzerland against malaria.
Our project:
With the example of malaria relief, we want to show that development partnerships do work. Starting from December 8th, we are launching a global photo and video contest. We look for solution-oriented and inspiring stories from around the world. Powerful images and videos will show how malaria engagement contributes to the UN Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. More than half of the world population lives with the risk to contract malaria and half a million people a year – mostly children – die of the disease. Furthermore, reducing malaria means improving social conditions and better access to education. With the help of an exhibition and professional media work supported by a social media campaign with the help of our members and partners, we will spread those powerful images and videos. They will illustrate the importance of our work. To do that, we need your help, too.
How we use your contributions:
Your contributions helps us make the contest more attractive for people from the affected countries. The 5000 CHF will be added to the prize budget and will make possible to provide valuable prize money for the photographers and videojournalists. This money will motivate amateurs and professionals to document the impact of engagement against malaria and to share it with the world!

Unser Projekt:
Am Beispiel Malaria möchten wir mit eurer Hilfe aufzeigen, wie Schweizer Entwicklungszusammenarbeit wirkt. Ab dem 8. Dezember veranstalten wir einen weltweit ausgeschriebenen Foto- und Videowettbewerb. Wir suchen nach lösungsorientierten Motiven und inspirierenden Geschichten. Aussagekräftige Bilder und Videos zeigen, wie Malaria-Engagement zu den Zielen der UN Agenda 2030 für Nachhaltige Entwicklung beiträgt. Fast die Hälfte der Weltbevölkerung lebt mit dem konstanten Risiko an Malaria zu erkranken, und immer noch sterben rund eine halbe Million Menschen pro Jahr, vor allem kleine Kinder, an der Krankheit. Malaria zu bekämpfen bedeutet aber auch verbesserte soziale Verhältnisse und bessere Schulbildung. Mit einer Ausstellung, professioneller Medienarbeit und einer von unseren Mitgliedern und Partnern unterstützter Social Media Kampagne, werden starke Bilder und Videos verbreitet, um von unserer wichtigen Arbeit zu überzeugen. Dafür brauchen wir jetzt Eure Unterstützung.
Wofür wir deinen Beitrag nutzen:
Mit deinem Beitrag schaffen wir es, den Wettbewerb auch für Menschen aus den betroffenen Ländern attraktiver zu machen. Die 5’000 CHF werden zu unserem Preisgeldbudget hinzugefügt und somit können wir den Fotografen und Videojournalisten wertschätzende Preisgelder zur Verfügung stellen. Dieses Geld wird viele Amateure und Profifotografen dazu bewegen, vor Ort mit Bildern und Videos zu dokumentieren, wie Einsatz gegen Malaria wirkt und dies mit der Welt zu teilen.
