We need leaders, and future leaders, who put ethical considerations above all others when taking decisions.

We believe that integrating ethics more deeply into teaching in higher education institutions will enable leaders to be the best they can be and bring about positive changes in society.

We are hosting a global event in June focused on this topic, called: Managing and Teaching Ethics in Higher Education: Policies, Skills and Resources.

Inclusiveness means having all voices present to be heard and learning from those who have other perspectives than your own.

If teachers, speakers and experts from disadvantaged contexts in the majority world can attend and share their expertise, the conference will have bigger impact and affect the lives of the students they teach.

For this, your financial support is needed!

Our added value:

As a worldwide network, publisher, academy and library that represents and empowers academia with expertise in ethics from the global south, we have the unique opportunity to bring these experts to Geneva.

An example of this is a paper that was submitted to us for the conference by a young Kenyan researcher. He conducted a comparative study of public and private universities in the North Rift Region in Kenya on academic ethics and quality of higher education.

A presentation of his findings would give international policymakers, leaders in education and academia that are on the conference a tangible case study to review the current status of ethics in higher education. Moreover, the Kenyan researcher will be able to exchange with his colleagues, get input on his research and bring new insights on ethics to his institution and students. This will not only empower him as an individual, but will improve his context as a whole.

This is what we need backing for:

Taking past experience with travel- and visa costs into account, the average costs for one participant from the global south is around 1800CHF. The number of people from disadvantaged contexts that can be supported depends on the financial support we are able to receive. We hope and aim for five, which means 9000CHF, but set the minimum at one.

Afterwards, a report of the conference will be available on our website. This will include evidence of the positive results that the attendance of participants from the global south has had.
