SHYRDAK rug in stock in Switzerland
SHYRDAKS are traditionally crafted Kyrgyz felt rugs listed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

We have around 40 felt rugs in stock in Switzerland, featuring both traditional and modern designs. These rugs were produced in Kyrgyzstan using eco-friendly dyes and fair wages.

All Shyrdaks are new, come in various sizes, and are one-of-a-kind pieces.

Gulsara and Tony Steinmann are donating these Shyrdaks from their inventory to support the expansion of Hotel AMIR, which they built with their family in Kyrgyzstan in the early 2000s.

In the early 2000s, Gulsara Karabasheva worked in tourism at www.helvetas.ch. Tony Steinmann also collaborated with Helvetas on a project in Kyrgyzstan. From this, we privately initiated the construction of the AMIR hotel, got married, and have since offered B2B services for the tourism industry (www.swissprovider.net).

We also organise custom group trips for friends and Kyrgyzstan enthusiasts. These are typically summer trips lasting 2–3 weeks. They are round trips with various focuses, such as people and culture, trekking, or specific interests you’d like to explore in Kyrgyzstan.

We’ve now listed our previously private offers on the website www.kirgistanreisen.ch. These are ideas – we offer trips for a minimum of two people, usually small groups of around eight.

By purchasing the reward «10% travel discount for two people», you’ll receive a 10% discount when booking one of our trips, valid until the end of 2029. We’re happy to accommodate individual requests and organise the entire trip from Switzerland. We’d also be glad to meet during the planning phase.

Our 2–3 week trips cost between CHF 3,600 and CHF 5,300, including flights from Zurich and full board. Other departure locations available on request.
