Who are we?
We are «GINMAKU Japanese Film Festival» based in Zurich, Switzerland.
«GINMAKU» means «silver screen», a title chosen out of reverence to the great pioneers of Japanese film. Without their passion, the Japanese film industry wouldn’t exist the way it does today.
The festival will showcase new and upcoming Japanese films and filmmakers, presenting the Swiss community with cinematic impressions of contemporary Japan and creating a cultural bridge between the nations.

What is our goal for GINMAKU 2019?
The 5th edition of the festival once again brings the Swiss audience closer to contemporary Japan through cinematic impressions and creates a bridge between the two cultures through films.
It is our mission to build a long term cultural bridge between Switzerland and Japan. Through our film festival, we create opportunities to establish deeper friendship and mutual understanding.
For the upcoming 5th edition, 16 films are planned to be screened. We aim to uncover new talent in the Japanese film industry through this festival, develop and grow together, and promote the cultural exchange between Switzerland and Japan🇨🇭🇯🇵
What do we need your support for?
Your contribution is provided for the screening fees and shipping cost of films as well as the flight costs for our special guests from Japan.
