We are thrilled to share the latest updates on our Eco Hope Gardens project, an initiative from Guardianes de la Vida aimed at helping children create and cultivate their own gardens. This project has been made possible by the incredible support and generosity of our crowdfunding community. Thanks to your contributions, Eco Hope Gardens has started to come to life!

As Francisco announced on social media earlier this month, four schools have already begun their journey in creating their own gardens. These schools are:

  1. Institución Educativa Julio Ramon Faciolince, in Barranco de Loba, Bolivar
  2. Institución Manuelita Saenz, in San Cristobal, Bogota
  3. Institución Educativa La Presentación de Duitama, in Boyaca
  4. Institución Educativa Tablón de Gómez, in Nariño, a native community

The first stage of this exciting journey involves delimiting the garden area within each school, preparing the soil, and starting the planting process. The students have eagerly taken to this project, showing immense enthusiasm and positivity. Their first impressions have been incredibly encouraging, as they begin to create a real oasis and learn more about Mother Nature.

The students have started to section off a dedicated garden space. The soil preparation process has become a hands-on learning experience, teaching them about the importance of healthy soil for plant growth. The excitement is palpable as they plant their first seeds, anticipating the growth of their garden.

The garden area has been meticulously planned, and the soil has been enriched with compost and natural fertilizers. The children are not only learning about gardening but also about sustainability and environmental stewardship.

They have already planted a variety of vegetables and herbs, eagerly awaiting the day they can harvest their own food. This garden is set to become a vibrant part of their school environment, providing both beauty and sustenance.

Kids are connecting deeply with their cultural roots through the garden project. They are planting traditional crops and learning ancient agricultural techniques passed down through generations. This garden is more than just a project; it’s a reclamation of heritage and a step towards food sovereignty.

The initial success and enthusiasm from the students are incredibly promising. As these gardens grow, so too will the children’s understanding of ecology, agriculture, and sustainability. They are not just learning to cultivate food; they are cultivating hope, responsibility, and a deeper connection to the environment.

We look forward to sharing more updates as these Eco Hope Gardens continue to flourish. Your support has made a tangible difference, and we can’t wait to see the full impact of this project as it unfolds.

Thank you once again for your generosity and belief in the Eco Hope Gardens project. Together, we are sowing the seeds of a greener, more sustainable future for these children and their communities.

With gratitude,

The Eco Hope Gardens Project Team
