A home for swing dancing

Our dance school Basel Jitterbugs needs a new location for courses and workshops. We need your support to finance part of the renovation.

Since our foundation in 2017, we have held our courses and workshops in various locations, which we have rented by the hour. Now we are very excited to take the next step with our own dance studio. A place where the community comes together, meets, dances, laughs and swing dancing has a home. We open the doors in September 2024!

Our goal is to bring joy into your life. Swing music and swing dancing are very uplifting and joyful. The community is open, friendly and all are welcome! In recent years, the swing dances Lindy Hop, Balboa, Shag and Solo Jazz have experienced a real hype and the community has grown considerably. Because you change partners, you get to know lots of nice people and quickly make friends - in Basel, Switzerland and all over the world.

In our experience, swing dancing is the perfect antidote to the often one-sided and stressful everyday life. You get moving, become part of a great community and enjoy life. Swing dancing simply makes you happy! This is our own experience and the most frequent feedback from our dance students. Our aim is to share this joy with as many people as possible. Jitterbugs Studio

Several of our course and event venues are closing their doors - most recently the Launchlabs on Gundeldingerfeld and the Borromäum at the end of 2024. This means the loss of two important course locations for which we need a replacement. Over the past year and a half, we have therefore visited countless rooms and looked for alternatives.

We are delighted that we have now found a wonderful space in the middle of Basel.With a great wooden floor, lots of natural light from the large windows and plenty of space.

So much space that a dream can come true: To be able to run two courses in parallel in the same place.We are planning to separate the space and create two modern dance studios.Our vision is that the community, music, laughter and dancing will come together here - joy of life will have a home!

This is what we need your support for

The new location already has a wooden floor and ventilation, but it still needs a lot more. We need your help to turn it into a dance studio. The investment budget is around CHF 40,000. This includes a special acoustic partition wall, lighting, sound systems, mirrors and wardrobes.

With your support, we can realize our plans and give swing dancing a great home for many years to come.
