Support in a difficult time
My beloved cat Kaleo was a very affectionate, sensitive and loving cat. He was my loyal companion for 8 years. It was only in May that I lost my twin brother (26 years old) forever in an accident caused by a wrong-way driver. Three weeks ago, my cat started to show unusual behaviour: he meowed a lot and hardly ate at all. He was examined by the vet, blood was taken and tested in the laboratory. He was given injections and painkillers in the hope of improvement. But after a week, he was still not better. So we went to the vet again, now he had also lost a lot of weight in a short time. He was immediately given infusions and I had to leave Kaleo in the intensive care unit for treatment. Two days later, it was unclear whether he had colon cancer and he was referred to a specialist. After 3 days in the hospital, lymphatic cancer was diagnosed. After 5 days in intensive care, many tests and attempts to get him back on his feet, Kaleo was even weaker. Lymph cancer is incurable, it could have been treated with chemotherapy, but that would only have been life-sustaining and would not have ended his suffering. So, after an intensive fight against the lymph node cancer, I decided with a heavy heart to release my beloved cuddle buddy. With my last ounce of strength, I let Kaleo be picked up by my beloved twin brother. The intensive treatments of my cat have cost me a lot of money. Therefore, I am grateful for any support in this very challenging time.
First the loss of my twin brother, then the loss of my beloved cat.
In May of this year, I lost my 26-year-old twin brother in a tragic road accident caused by a driver travelling in the wrong direction. This sudden and unexpected loss has fundamentally changed my life. Since then, I have faced an enormous emotional challenge. The grieving process takes up a great deal of my energy, which is why I had to reduce my workload. During this difficult time, my empathetic cat Kaleo was an important support for me. His gentle nature and unconditional affection offered me comfort and support. It is all the more painful now that I have also lost my beloved Kaleo.

Despite all our efforts to help my cat, we have lost the battle against lymphatic cancer. The extensive treatments, consultations, hospital stays, blood tests, laboratory tests, infusions, medication and X-rays have caused significant costs. The total cost of Kaleo’s treatment is CHF 3284. Under the circumstances, this financial burden is very high for me. I am very grateful for any kind of support during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, would help me to cover the costs of Kaleo’s treatment and relieve me during this challenging phase of my life.
