Support for the children's singing group Viserunky
Two years ago, the Viserunky dance group was founded by Ukrainian refugees in Austria as a way of giving the children something to do to distract them from the war and at the same time establish a group that conveys Ukrainian culture in Austria, creating connections and thus facilitating integration. The group’s performance level is high, and in just under two years over 80 children have been integrated into an intensive dance program. They have rehearsed over 25 dances from many European countries. Such a professionally organized program, developed by the community itself, is a great success in terms of strengthening families, number of participants and audience development. This program now faces the challenge of further funding. The project leaders can no longer cope with the number of interested parties without additional funding and space resources. The group is growing and has now received requests to perform in all of Austria’s federal states. They need support for costumes, professional rooms. Travel and staff.
We are special, connected and diverse
Not only have we managed to give 80 children a sense of security, but we have also created a program for the local population that teaches professional dance skills. We have a high participation of boys, which is very special and unique for dance. Our program is free or very inexpensive, especially for families with refugee backgrounds who otherwise cannot afford a professional program. We offer a solution to make their free time meaningful and integrate at the same time. More and more local children are taking part, creating friendships and shared moments. We are looking forward to putting on more and more performances and celebrating great successes.
I need support for this
We need support for costumes and our travel to the performances. We also need to rent larger and more professional dance spaces. We need more help with communication (e.g. website) and our dance teacher also needs more support in organizing the performances.
