La Biblio Bise!

The Eco-feminist Library in Biel since 2018

La Bise is a collective created in 2018 in Biel with the aim of reacting actively to events that annoy or delight us. We want to get up from our sofas and stop remaining isolated in the face of the emotions provoked by current events. We’re joining our energy of revolt to the wind blowing against gender discrimination and the social and environmental injustices of the dominant system in Switzerland and around the world!

Committed, inclusive and innovative in Biel

Comic books rub shoulders with political essays, novels with children’s books and films. The La Bise library has over 300 books. We realise that not everyone is guaranteed access to books: they are expensive and sometimes hard to find. So a library makes it easier to access these resources.

In addition to the library, we think it’s important to organise discussion forums to bring together people interested in exchanging ideas on eco-feminist issues. We want to create a space for critical, no-holds-barred discussions, in a friendly setting where we can share our questions, our experiences and our thoughts.

This is what I need backing for.

La Bise has moved into a new space at Quai du Bas 30 in Biel. This new space will be shared with other committed collectives in Bienne, such as QueerBienne and CABBAK. This exchange between collectives will be incredibly rich, but we still need to clean up the space. Our list of projects is not exhaustive: closing up holes in the roof, insulating the rooms by installing a false ceiling, connecting the electricity and water, renovating the heating system and changing the windows… And that’s why we need your support! Thanks to your support, we’ll be able to renovate this space and make it warmer, brighter and rain-free for our books and readers :)
