La Tchauxtex ; textiles, yarns and haberdashery
The local fabric store, Chafotex, closed its doors after 36 years at the end of September. When one door closes, another opens! Passionate about textiles, colors and everything associated with them since my childhood, with your support I’m embarking on the project of opening a new space for creative people in La Chaux-de-Fonds and the surrounding area. Previous suppliers have already been contacted, and there will of course be new ones! I’ve already found some lovely cotton prints from the Vosges, and I’m scouting for new products in Switzerland and other European countries, so as to offer the best products that have traveled as little as possible.
It would also enable us to continue supplying local schools and crafts people
Sewing, knitting and other textile arts are making a resurgence thanks to the spirit of conservation and repair rather than replace. To continue to promote these skills and traditions, I’m launching La Tchauxtex, which is also taking up the torch to continue supplying schools in and around the town, as well as associations that help people back into the workforce.
The funds will be used to set up the store
There are a lot of costs involved in starting up a new business and unfortunately, I don’t have the means to do it on my own. The funds will be used to pay suppliers for the first orders, to pay the rent deposit and insurance and, most importantly, to set up a limited liability company (Sàrl), in order to protect this project and ensure its continuity.
