About the Project & What We Intend to Do
LATERAL is a one-hour fiction feature film with action and dark humor, set in Zurich. It follows two very different men whose lives become entangled through an illegal business involving addictive sacramental wine supplied to local churches. As pressure mounts, a growing rivalry develops between them. The film is currently in post-production. Through this crowdfunding campaign, we aim to complete the final stage of the film at professional standards. The funds will be used exclusively for post-production, including picture editing, color grading, sound design and mixing, music, and the creation of festival deliverables such as subtitles and a DCP. With your support, LATERAL can be completed and prepared for festival screenings and public presentation.
What Makes This Project Special
LATERAL stands out through its unusual combination of action, dark humor, and a distinctly Swiss setting. The film tells a genre story rooted in local reality, using Zurich’s churches, gyms, and everyday environments as the backdrop for a morally complex conflict. What makes the project unique is its central idea: an illegal business that exploits faith and addiction at the same time. This allows the film to explore themes of responsibility, control, and compromise in an unexpected and provocative way, while remaining accessible and entertaining. The film is built around two equal protagonists with opposing worldviews, creating a dynamic rivalry rather than a simple good-versus-evil narrative. This balance gives the story depth and tension and allows the audience to question their own moral boundaries. With post-production support, LATERAL can be completed at a professional level and shared with an audience that appreciates bold, character-driven genre films with a strong local identity.
How We Will Use the Collected Funds
All funds raised through the Wemakeit campaign will be used exclusively for the final post-production of LATERAL. This includes all essential steps needed to complete the film at a professional standard. The budget will be allocated to final picture editing to refine the narrative and pacing, color grading to create a consistent and cinematic visual look, and sound design and final mixing to ensure dialogue, atmosphere, and action meet festival standards. It will also cover music, including original composition and licensing, as well as festival deliverables such as subtitles and the creation of a DCP. This support allows us to complete LATERAL professionally and prepare the film for festival screenings and public presentation.
