This is what it's all about.
As a musical explorer, my project aims to combine the result of my many musical journeys. I am a jazz musician, but some parentheses have punctuated my career, from rock, blues, classical music with Bach topping the list, but also Brazilian music, African not to mention my passion for North Indian classical music, The discovery of all these musics has made me travel, improvise, compose, and my compositions are certainly a real reflection of all these influences.
For a long time I wanted to record and to orchestrate those compositions and my new compositions with a group, based on my Western identity. I have been lucky enough to secure a week of residency at the artists’ house of Chamonix, where I will have a fantastic recording studio at my disposal. To realize this project, I chose to collaborate with musicians that I admire: Mathieu Rossignelly on piano, Ibra Galissa on kora, François Gallix and Ninn Langel on double bass, Stéphane Foucher and Bruno Duval on drums.
My project is special because ...
After years of exploration investing a lot in projects in collaboration with musicians from other cultures. I want today, (hoje means today in Portuguese) to produce an album with all compositions that I have never had the opportunity to record during the last 20 years, and also to re-record some compositions already recorded with another orchestration. I sincerely believe that these compositions deserve to be played and produced at best and with love …
There is also a beautiful painting by the painter Momar Seck which will be reproduced on the cover of the vinyl and the CD. The vinyl will be pressed in limited edition, numbered from 1 to 100, which will make unique objects.
This is what I need backing for.
To pay the expenses and the travel of seven musicians and an engineer for 7 days of studio as well as their food. Burning of 100 vinyls and 500 CDs. Promotion of the project.
