mentiParti to inspire music
by Tobias Cramm, Nelson Lam, and Wendy Lam Olsen
Enjoying improvisation and composing in the classical style as a group
mentiParti is a week full of music! We improvise, compose and draw inspiration from Neapolitan music-learning traditions, namely partimenti and solfeggi of the 17th/18th century. We meet as newcomers and practitioners of all ages, in an atmosphere of mutual inspiration and learning. The week is a creative mix of one-on-one coaching, group activities, lectures, discussions, and time for experiments and conversations, all aimed at inspiring your musical creativity.
A warm welcome to us, whether you’d like to register or just pop in for a visit, from 5–11 July in Basel and later online: www.partimenti.com
We are a team of musicians from Switzerland and countries near and far, travelling as students, teachers or parents of music-loving children, who have connected locally and online over the last few years. We work on a project basis and are flexible. It’s all about coming together through music using our creative skills, and about learning from and inspiring one another.
This is what's special about mentiParti
At mentiParti, music enthusiasts from Switzerland and abroad (even other continents) come together: professionals, non-professionals, teachers, children, and teenagers. There is a shared sense for exploring and creating music in a supporting atmosphere. All settings allow for a wide range of activities, from individual exploration to group-inspired insights, from playful learning to focused attention. mentiParti thus caters to the need of many musicians, especially in the classical field: to get an opportunity for musical expression based on one’s own musical vocabulary and thus to enter into a refreshing interaction with others and music itself. The learning materials from the Neapolitan conservatories act as catalysts in this process.
This is what I need backing for.
mentiParti brings people with very different financial resources together, in no small part because it is such an internationally designed project. We want to accept everybody interested in participating, knowing that some people spend a lot to travel to Switzerland and pay for a week of accomodation. On the other hand, the work and effort of all teaching faculty should be honored decently, and also we need to rent the facilities of the beautiful Freie Musikschule Basel.
mentiParti has practically no «overhead», as it is organized with a lot of background volunteer work. Your support will fill in an essential gap and make our dream come true: to make mentiParti 2026 an inspiring musical experience.
Thank you very much!
