«Raindrop - The Journey of Water»

Do nature and its inhabitants also hold significance for you? Is sustainability, biodiversity, and nature conservation not just trendy buzzwords for you? Then you are in the right place. Here at Graf Media Productions, we are passionate about nature in all its facets and aim to contribute to the protection of various habitats through our work. In our view, education, knowledge, and commitment are the keys to success, as we are only willing to protect what we know and understand. That’s why we have dedicated ourselves to producing nature documentaries, and we are currently working on our second feature film. This time, it focuses on freshwater habitats and the diverse animal species that inhabit and depend on them.

However, like everything in this world, producing such a film incurs certain costs. In order to ensure our independence from political and purely economic investors, we are therefore trying to cover most of these costs through sponsorship funds and our own financial resources.

That’s why we are launching an attempt via this platform for the first time, and we want to see if we are not alone in our vision of nature and its education. So, have we piqued your curiosity? Would you also like to be part of this exciting project? We would be delighted to welcome you on board the film crew!

A tribute to local nature

«Raindrop - The Journey of Water» metaphorically follows a droplet of water as it falls as a snowflake on the highest peaks of the Swiss Alps, through wild and tumultuous mountain torrents, the lush valleys of alluvial forests, into the dark and sinister depths of marshlands, along the great rivers until finally reaching the vastness of the ocean. Throughout an entire year, we get to know the animals and accompany them in their most intimate and vulnerable moments, as well as in their daily dramas and glories in their habitat. «Raindrop» aims to inform, educate, mobilize, and evoke emotions. Over the course of almost four years of production, spectacular and unique footage has been captured, which we would now like to transform into a remarkable, monumental, and breathtaking project, with your help. Nature - particularly in our region - holds so many exciting things. Stories that deserve to be told. We aim to tell these stories and give a voice and stage to the silent animal protagonists in cinemas.

A tribute to local nature

As you can perhaps imagine, producing a film requires a tremendous amount of work, especially when you cannot communicate with the «actors» because they are animals. A nature film typically takes about four years to produce. Given that we are about 15 people in the team, all of whom have given their utmost to create a fantastic and breathtaking cinematic experience, the costs are, of course, substantial. Added to this are the rights, fees, and infrastructure. Although we are all professionals and make a living from our work, such a film nevertheless requires a lot of idealism and hard work. In order not to bear the production costs alone, we rely on sponsors and grants. Unfortunately, the genre of «nature film» is somewhat marginalized, as it is generally not classified under categories like «direct nature conservation» or «culture». Therefore, grants are scarce. As we also do not want to shape our films according to political interests or economic «trends», we wish to act as independently as possible from politically oriented investors and commerce. The «revenue» generated here will thus be entirely dedicated to the production costs of this film for the sake of nature. Promise!
