For close to 80 years, the location of the «Bödeli» Bookshop has been home to dedicated book sellers, bringing literature, culture and people together. To keep this fabulous shop thriving into the future, some renovations and improvements are necessary - that is why we’re asking for your help.
We strive to be your trusted book purchase point of chice, not only for books, but also gifts, games and stationary. Conversations in an inviting atmosphere, while sipping a fine cup of coffee- to discuss boos or just «this and that - are encouraged! We are also able to take orders and make delivery via our on-line bookshop - also for fans if Indi-Bookshop all over the World.
Along with books, we also have a fabulous range of gift items produced by both local artisans and by disabled persons who are supported by dedicated social institutions. Book readings and book launches, cultural, social and music events will have their place within our walls. We are so grateful for the many lovely conversations that have been shared with us. These let us know the we are on the right track.

My project is special because ...
My enthusiastic, competent team members have applied themselves to their vocation fully - heart, body and soul. We are often referred to as an oasis of refuge that encourages interaction between people, books and culture in today’s busy world - with your support, we’ll be able to continue doing this for years to come!
Pia Thomann-Kaufmann: in the book business for almost 40 years and still loving my job with literature and people. 
Uli Födisch:she loves Books and human beeings. Creativity, crafting and decorating come to her naturally. This summer she will start to fulfill her live dream and become a certified bookseller in three years. 
Lea Malesevic: our jack of all trades, well-read and always full of new ideas. Head of our Homepage and social media. we are sad to have to let her go, but are happy to see her beeing able to spend her time with her lovely son Lennon (our smallest bookseller). 
Petra Dalheimer: working many years with enthusiasm in the different book shops which have bin in this store. Well-read and also a pro in presenting our stock with creativity. 
Lenard Baum: A real book person end enthusiastic reader who loves to find the right book for every customer. It took him two years of many applications to find the place to start the apprenticeship of his dream profession. 
Regula Fankhauser: we are looking forward to welcome her in our team as of July. Knowing her as a kompetent, and friendly Kennen wir sie doch schon als sehr kompetente Buchhändlerin und engagiertes Mitglied im ehemaligen riki-Team.

This is what I need backing for.
We’ve already put a lot of love, energy and creativity, into several projects, carting out «soft» renovations and adaptions within the store, as well as to our range of goods, the creation of a homepage with an online shop, and in arranging cultural events in the shop. It is time to retire some of our equipment and furnishings, though. Generally, things are on the ’up and up’, but when one takes a closer look…..
- The lighting must be more customer-friendly and ecological. It is essential that hardware and IT items such as the printer and our daily work instruments are updated. This is top priority.
- The sales counter and workspaces must be renovated or replaced.
- The shelves of our back storage need to be replaced to provide more space and to lighten it up.
- It is important that we can place greetings cards, books and gift items outside of the shop to attract customers, even when it’s raining. New waterproof sun awnings are necessary.
That’s the the material side of it….. Also of great significance to us is the conservation and support of:
-educating booksellers (apprenticeship) and the engagement of persons with disabilities.
- to retain and expand our cultural space for social encounters, culture, education, and music.
As you can see from the photos, however, we still have some work to do; work that will be initiated with your help.
Every donation, small or large, will aid us in carrying out these efforts. You’re supporting the Boedeli Bookshop to be an oasis of culture and calm, and assisting in the sustenance of local jobs and educational positions.

so old we can’d find spare parts anymore. And don’t even ask about the energy it uses up.
