Take part in reforestation 🌱
Actively help Fazenda Eco Jardim, a long-abandoned and degraded site, become an example of reforestation with lush and sustainable production, where rainforest and agriculture can go hand in hand in the near future.
Fazenda Eco Jardim is a vision of a place of peace and quiet where everyone can reconnect with nature with ease. Andreas, the founder, is dedicated to reforesting degraded land into Atlantic rainforest, regenerating the soil, and promoting biodiversity using permaculture methods while producing food in abundance.
Before I, Andreas, a native of Vienna, completely turned my life around and started afresh in Brazil in 2020, I was a graphic designer, visual artist, and worked successfully for seven years in Zurich as a trainer for people with autism in graphic and media design.
«Unfortunately, my dream of running a sustainable, ecological farm with Fazenda EcoJardim.net and reforesting a piece of the Atlantic rainforest at the same time has only been realized to a small extent here in Bahia, Brazil.» I completed the part of the farm that allows guests to vacation on a Brazilian eco-farm with my own funds and the help of close friends. The plantation (status «standby») is based on the principles of Agricultura Sintrópica. I have planted around 2,800 trees over the last 5 years. However, most of the 5.4-hectare property is still completely degraded land and has unfortunately been in «standby mode» since 2020 due to a lack of funds to complete the project.
Agricultura Sintrópica is a Brazilian variant of permaculture and was developed here in Bahia by Swiss Ernst Götsch, who advised me on this project at the beginning.
I had to leave my job in Switzerland because of Covid in 2020 and unfortunately have not been able to raise the remaining investment myself since then. Now I urgently need help to finally complete this project successfully. Become part of this vision and help me spread the word about this campaign so that it can be brought to a successful conclusion. Every little bit helps bring us a little closer to our goal.
My project is special because ...
Reforestation of rainforest while simultaneously using and managing it as ecologically sound permaculture agriculture.
I never understood why rainforest couldn’t grow back where it once was. It was Ernst Götsch, a Swiss citizen who has lived here in Bahia for decades and is recognized and sought after worldwide, who showed me that this is indeed possible. As my advisor in the early stages, he motivated and inspired me to take on this challenge in order to do my part to heal Mother Earth and at the same time create a livelihood and jobs.
With your support, I can finally bring my vision to fruition. Every contribution counts—with your donation, you will help me to replant urgently needed rainforest and, at the same time, create a sustainable livelihood and jobs. As a thank you for your support, you can expect a variety of attractive rewards. These include creative art prints designed by me, beautiful one-of-a-kind items, a visit to a permaculture course in Brazil, a vacation on a «Brazilian farm,» plots of land, and even a partnership in the «Fazenda Eco Jardim» project.
Thank you for joining us in shaping our future together with the future of Mother Earth!
This is what I need backing for.
Since Covid forced me to live here on my farm in Brazil, I have achieved a lot in recent years, despite a freeze on investment due to severely limited finances and a daily «struggle» alone and on my own.
My focus so far has been on getting the rooms ready to rent out, because I thought that would allow me to establish a financial basis more quickly on my own and finance the further progress of the reforestation of the plantation. Unfortunately, I now have to admit that this cannot be achieved here on my own.
In the last 4 years and 4 months that I have been living here in Bahia, I have learned a lot about nature and the Atlantic rainforest. About the cycles of nature, the phases of the moon, about soil, about plants, about plant communities, about animals, but also about the mentality of the people who live here.
With my modest savings, my energy and hard work, but also with the help of close friends, I have already reforested a small part (around 1/5 of the total area) of the 5.4-hectare completely degraded plot with my own hands, and this part is already a small, 5-year-old young forest with various fruit crops. Unfortunately, I still lack the funds to regenerate and reforest the rest of the degraded soil on the plantation. I am therefore looking for people who are willing to help me realize the rest of my vision to transform this land, regenerate the soil, reforest it with sustainable permaculture techniques in an ecologically correct manner, and at the same time, as a means of livelihood, to operate a tropical organic fruit production in abundance. The focus for the fruits will initially be on cacao, papaya, passion fruit, pineapple, coconut, avocado, and acerola.
The financing of the project is divided into three phases of this campaign.
1.) Start of the campaign with a total of €15,000 This amount covers the start-up costs and expenses for the first six months and will be used for soil improvement, seeds, organic fertilizers, urgently needed tools, equipment, and machinery (such as irrigation systems, aerating forks, hand scythes, and hexers) and salaries. Once this first goal has been achieved,
phase 2) will follow with the goal of reaching a total of €25,000. This additional €10,000 will cover the labor costs of three permanent employees for the remainder of the first year and further expenses for fertilization and maintenance of the plantation. Once this second goal has been achieved,
Phase 3), which increases the total amount by another €10,000 to €35,000. This additional €10,000 will cover the labor costs for the second year. After the first two years, the newly created eco-system will be self-sustaining, thanks to the income from the papaya, pineapple, and passion fruit crops.
If I do not achieve the goal of this first phase, I will unfortunately have to admit to myself that the «Fazenda Eco Jardim» vision has finally failed. This would mean that I would have to sell the farm.
