Our fighting spirit defines our daily lives...UnvermeidBAR - must not become avoidable

We are a safer space for many: people of different ages, backgrounds, and identities. We are particularly proud to be a queer-friendly Safer Space and a platform for local artists, jazz enthusiasts, and young talents. For 17 years, we have been an essential part of the community in Baden, creating space for encounters, culture, and diversity. Without us, an important place would be missing where people can feel safe and welcome.

The UnvermeidBAR needs support

We are a cultural bar standing on our own two feet – without subsidies and relying solely on the support of our guests. However, we are now facing an unexpected VAT claim (triggered by the new federal regulation starting in January 2025), which exceeds our revenue needed to cover the VAT.

Although rent, salaries, and all other expenses are covered, this new measure from the federal government is pushing us to our financial limits. In the past, we were unfortunately never able to build up reserves because our earnings were always just enough to keep the business running. Without your support, bankruptcy could soon threaten us – and with us, Baden would lose a place that is not just a bar, but a home for many and a cornerstone of local culture.

Our goal: We aim to raise CHF 15,000 to manage this tax burden and keep our doors open. Every contribution counts and helps us save our bar and the community we’ve built. With this amount, we will settle the bankruptcy threat of around CHF 10,000 and use the rest as startup funds for the upcoming VAT bill. At the same time, we plan to expand our food and drink offerings, make slight price adjustments, host benefits parties, and build a pool of benefit staff. The goal with these efforts is to be able to pay future VAT bills on time. Together, we can show that culture, diversity, and community are stronger than any challenge.
