The starting point
My first trip to Nepal in 2018 had a lasting impact on me. At that time, I interviewed and photographed almost 60 people. To this day, I am very grateful to them for the openness and warmth with which they welcomed me. And not least, thanks to these encounters, I turned my passion into a profession and became a photographer.
Now it is time to give something back. In March 2026, I will return to Nepal to visit the mountain farming families I met in 2018 and with whom I have remained connected.
How the donations will be used
Many young people I interviewed during my journey emphasized how important good education is to them. For this reason, I would like to collect donations for two schools in this mountain region through this appeal. One school is located in Yalung and is a high school for 150 students. The other is a secondary school in Shivalaya with 135 children. Both schools are located 10–11 hours by bus from the capital, Kathmandu.
Concrete implementation of the project
Planned purchases include ballpoint pens, colored pencils, notebooks, schoolbooks, blackboards, and various sports equipment. Padam, my guide and translator at the time, still lives in this mountain region and is very familiar with the needs of the local population. Together, we will purchase the school supplies in Kathmandu and deliver them to both schools. The donated funds will be used 1:1 for school materials; I will cover my personal travel expenses myself.
