That’s precisely where our app comes into play, aiming to spare you the time, frustration, and potential disappointment that can accompany such a search. This reflects our vision: «We want to fill every restaurant visit with joy.»

HOW EXACTLY DOES Taste Match WORK?

We’re on a mission to establish a «social network» where culinary experiences take center stage. It’s a platform where you can share your dining experiences and favorite restaurants with your friends. Furthermore, you can follow other users to see where they’re dining.

Imagine, on a trip to Madrid, instantly knowing your best friend’s favorite dining spots without her sending you an extensive list. And with insights from locals, you won’t just discover the standard tourist highlights; you’ll also uncover exciting eateries in various neighborhoods and the city’s hidden gastronomic gems, allowing you to deftly sidestep those ubiquitous tourist traps. Our platform will also provide the opportunity to follow chefs and influencers.

Our goal is to revolutionize your restaurant search. We want to make results more authentic and simplify your search so that you’ll only dine in restaurants that genuinely match your taste.

Another unique aspect of our platform is that you don’t have to verbalize your preferences. A picture quiz in the app will capture them. Based on this, we can determine which type best matches you. These personas are backed by scientific studies, and we’ve developed a prototype for this classification that you can test on our website. The classifications rely on a smart algorithm. Based on your type, we can suggest restaurants that truly suit you. And the more you use our app, the better it gets: With our crowd-intelligence platform, the recommendations become increasingly accurate. User feedback helps the algorithm continually improve and simultaneously keep the data up-to-date.

Our suggestions are free from sponsored recommendations and are meant to help you find the perfect «Taste Match.» And it’s not just about the taste; we interpret «Taste» concerning ambiance, décor, location, people, and atmosphere.

For those venturing into a new city, it’s often a culinary voyage of discovery. How does one find a restaurant that genuinely embodies the spirit, culture, and flavors of the city and its cuisine? How can one unearth the hidden culinary jewels while sidestepping tourist traps? Our platform emerges as the solution. And there’s more: users can also view and navigate through the favorite spots marked by friends who’ve previously visited.

THE RESTAURANTS:
Eateries situated away from the bustling tourist hubs or those operating without hefty marketing budgets often grapple with visibility challenges. We aim to bridge this gap, helping them attract discerning guests. Furthermore, we wish to offer these establishments a platform where they can convey their unique philosophy and vision to potential patrons.

THE LOCALS:
Ever found yourself pondering dining options in your city for a meetup with friends, acquaintances, or family? Recalling places you haven’t frequented in a while, recent favorites, or those entirely new to you? Once again, our platform seeks to guide you, ensuring you make the perfect choice - perhaps even discovering the ideal match for you and your companions.

OUR CHALLANGES:
We’re just starting out. Our vision is clear, the typification prototype is online, the core functionality is proven, and we’ve put our hearts and souls into it, even quitting our jobs. Through numerous interviews, we’ve repeatedly reconsidered our idea, discarded some aspects, and incorporated new ones. Now, we’re ready to go public and get feedback from a broader audience.

Our goal is to gear up for the Beta-Version launch in summer/fall 2024. Undoubtedly, many challenges lie ahead, but these challenges combined with our firm belief that the world needs this solution motivate us to push forward.

The remaining capital will go directly into the development of our first beta version and we intend to integrate developers permanently into our team.

WHO ARE WE?
Our paths first crossed 15 years ago during a floorball game. From this chance encounter blossomed a profound friendship between the two of us, David Kilchenmann and Tobias Tröhler. Together, we chased after goals on the field, quickly realizing the efficiency and productivity of our partnership.
Throughout our professional careers, our paths consistently intertwined. Especially over the past six years, we worked closely together at a reputed IT company in Bern. Dave honed his expertise in sales and the skill of effectively understanding and addressing customer needs. Tobi, known for his visionary thinking and commitment to innovation, contributed to the company’s growth and team expansion. Our shared adventures showed that we’re not just good friends but also strong business partners; we share an enthusiasm for tackling exhilarating challenges.
