About Soul-Xpressions Company and Muhammed Kaltuk

Soul-Xpressions is a non profit youth development organisation in Uganda, engaging youth with arts and sports to develop their identities, social and economic skills. The Company counts four professional dancers.

Choreographer Muhammed Kaltuk was born and raised in Switzerland in a conservative Turkish family. As an effort to break out of his upbringing, Kaltuk made a name for himself in the Swiss Hip Hop scene.

The director of the company invited Muhammed Kaltuk to Uganda last year for a creative collaboration. Soul-Xpressions Company and Muhammed Kaltuk created this piece in Uganda during the Ignite culture project by Africa Mashitiki Dance, in 2023.

The goal of this project and collaboration was to enhance the quality of dance choreography in East Africa through collaboration with international guest artists. Muhammed Kaltuk created this piece with Soul-Xpressions Company by leading a commited mentorship, aiming to nurture the talent of the dancers and fostering a long lasting impact.

«The love you give» premiered at the East African Nights of Tollerance festival in Kigali, Rwanda in 2023. There it has been discovered by the Inuka Dance Company which now is organising the 4th edition of the Hadisi Urban Festival 2024.

About Hadisi Urban Festival and Soul-Xpressions Company

Goal of the Hadisi Urban Festival is to build a community through dance.

Inuka Dance Company invited Muhammed Kaltuk and Soul-Xpressions to perform at their festival as the piece would inspire a lot of young people and open doors to Congo, for further collaborations and international choreographers.
