Working in savage gardens
In 2017 I bought a finca in the green north of Spain. The house was in ruins and the grounds were overgrown. I renovated it piece by piece - and I’m still at it.
I’ve been living here and working remotely since late 2020. I manage a continuing education institution in Switzerland and work on projects for professional associations, educational institutions and SERI.
I feel every day how profitable this work in such a natural and green environment is for me. That was the reason why I started to convert the upper floor of my house into a workation space. This is a place where you can work intensively on your projects and on your personality.
In the first phase the Workation-Space offers you the following amenities:
- High-quality equipment (screen, camera for calls, height-adjustable desk, ergonomic chair, large table, kitchen, bathroom with bathtub, high-quality mattresses)
- Pin board and presentation case
- Country life (with many animals)
- forest places to stay
- fresh eggs
- fresh vegetables directly from the garden in summer (May to September)
- fiber optic internet
- air washer for allergy sufferers
- Jacuzzi in summer
- Sustainable power supply (100% solar, self-sufficient with battery)
- Sustainable heating (100% firewood from own cultivation)
- Sustainable and natural building material (stone, wood, wood insulation)
- 20 minutes to Santander (I recommend a rental car)
- 50 minutes to Bilbao
- Mountains and sea, great coastal stretches
- Bike routes, known from the Vuelta de España
- Motorcycle routes with little traffic, pass roads like in the Alps
- great sport and cultural offers
- nursery (also for very small children)
- dog friendly, high quality dog food you can get directly here, safe environment: I don’t use poison in house and garden
I am addressing all genders with this project, of course, but I would like to give a special welcome to women and moms. What you see here, I did alone. It took me years and I spent about 60’000 CHF for the renovation of the house (not including the purchase). I am very proud of the whole thing and I want to pass this drive on to other women and especially to my son.
My role in your workation is that of a faciltitator - which you can take up or not. I am your sparring partner in terms of methodology and implementation. I am good at listening to you and co-creating possible new paths with you - they say ;)In 2017 I bought a finca in the green north of Spain. The house was in ruins and the grounds were overgrown. My project is special because ...
The difference between a workspace and an Airbnb is that the workspace is geared towards working. You will find high-quality working materials. The desk is height-adjustable, the screen is suitable for long working hours, the chair is ergonomic. The internet connection is strong and stable. You have a bedroom with high-quality materials where you can relax. The outdoor area is also suitable for working (depending on the weather).
You can also enjoy spending time with the multitude of animals here. Each one carries its own story - although this is not or should not be a real animal welfare project.
My offers aim to give you a holistic Workation experience. So that you don’t just do your tasks, but can continue to grow at the Workation.
This is what I need backing for.
The money from the campaign will be used to complete the space. The bathroom, the bedroom, the children’s room and the installations of the kitchen are already finished. You can see them in the slide show.
As I became a mum at the beginning of this year, somewhat unplanned, the work is not progressing as I would like. In order to be able to keep the finca running, I have hired an employee and the budget has decreased accordingly.
The kitchen, part of the floor, some exterior work and the work furniture are still missing. Since I don’t want to deviate from the concept of high-quality furnishings at all, I need your support.
With your help I can finish the work space by the end of September and we can create a really cool new work project together from October. I look forward to many meetings and promise you that I will not leave my path. I’ve made it this far, I’m just missing the last bit.
