About The Project
Every year, thousands of young people lose their lives while struggling with despair, loneliness, and suicidal thoughts. They feel unable to talk about what they are going through. We are making this film to help break that silence. Through our story, we want to open up the discussion, encouraging an open and honest disscourse, without simplifying the subject or turning suffering into a spectacle. Our project is not only about creating a film. It is about making invisible people feel seen. By bringing this subject to the public, we hope to contribute to a genuine disscussion.
The Making Of The Film
We are two young filmmakers creating independent cinema driven by authenticity, visual storytelling and emotionally honest characters. A Sense of Longing is more than a short film. It is an invitation to talk about grief, isolation and hope with honesty and compassion. Through intimate storytelling and carefully crafted visuals, we want to create a film that resonates long after the credits roll and reminds audiences that even in our darkest moments, connection remains possible.
Why are we making this film? / How will your money be used?
Every year, thousands of young people die because they felt desperate. Their loneliness and suicidal thoughts go unnoticed. Many never find the words to ask for help. Your contribution doesn’t just fund the production of A sense of longing – it also helps raise awareness. We’re making this film because loneliness, despair and suicidal thoughts remain difficult to discuss openly. Too often, people stay silent out of fear of being misunderstood, judged or becoming a burden to others.
How will your contribution be used? Funds raised for A sense of longing will cover the film’s production, post-production and distribution.
Production and filming
- Purchase of sound recording equipment
- Location rental
- Travel expenses for the technical team and actors
- Catering for the crew during filming
- Purchase of costumes, props and make-up materials
- Production insurance
Team remuneration Part of the budget will go towards paying, as far as possible, those involved in the film, including:
- Actors
- Sound team
- Editor
- Director
- Director of photography
- Producer and other technical and artistic team members
Post-production
- Film editing
- Sound editing and mixing
- Soundtrack creation
- Colour grading
- Mastering and exporting different versions of the film
- Subtitling in English and German
Rewards for contributors Some of the budget will also cover preparing and sending rewards, such as:
- Early access to the film
- Exclusive content and interviews with the team and actors
- Special thanks in the credits
- Other rewards offered during the campaign
