ANASTROPHEN Magazine
by Sophie Ehrenstein, Ellen Wagner, and malinakremser
What is ANASTROPHEN?
We—Malina, Ellen, and Sophie—are three graduates of the Graphische Bundes-Lehr und Versuchsanstalt (Federal Teaching and Research Institute for Graphic Arts) in Vienna. In a time marked by uncertainty, we are creating a new narrative with ANASTROPHEN—one that encourages young people to actively shape the future. The publication combines photography, graphic design, and literature into an interdisciplinary work that explores young people’s visions of the future. By combining different forms of artistic expression, it creates a space where uncertainties become perspectives and doubts become ideas.
This is why we think ANASTROPHEN is special:
Our work deliberately operates at the intersection of analog, digital, and post-digital aesthetics. We work with analog and digital photography, scanning, altering, and combining image material with graphic elements to create different visual layers.
Anastrophen is based on texts by young authors that we collected through an open call. From almost 20 submissions, we selected nine texts, which we interpreted photographically and creatively.
The magazine will be released on October 24, 2025, as part of the «FOTO WIEN» photo festival at the Softcover Shop (https://softcover.at/) in Vienna and will then be available for purchase there and in the online shop.

But we need your help!
We urgently need the money to print 150 copies of our magazine. Our own financial resources are very limited, and it is difficult for us to obtain funding and sponsorship. Since we have a fixed publication date, we don’t have much time left. We are therefore dependent on your support. We appreciate every donation, even €5 helps us get a little closer to our goal!
