About Vilankulos and its people...
Even though Vilankulos is one of the most touristic places in Mozambique, it is a very poor village. The locals make their living by fishing, selling basic food items such as rice, fruits, and vegetables, offering boat trips and tours, and selling souvenirs and selfmade clothes. Due to the lack of the opportunity for an education, these skills and undergoing are self taught.

People are suffering hunger...
Because of the current global situation, there is a shortage of import and export of items, food being one of the most important of these items. The tourism industry that the country relies on has been substantially affected and is nonexistent at this time. In addition to that, the little food which is still available at the market continues to get more expensive as supply diminishes. As a result, locals cannot afford food and, consequently, cannot feed their families. They experience much suffering due to hunger which cannot be stopped without our support.

Together with your support, we can help these families. Vilankulos is home to my very good friend, Pedro Nhamirre. He was born and raised there and owns a restaurant and an airbnb accommodation. With help from some of his local friends, he will buy and distribute food to those in most need.
What does a «food package» look like?:
- rice
- oil
- salt
- vegetables
- bread
- dry fish
With the support of just CHF 10.00 you can feed a family of 5 people for a whole week!
On my African journey in 2019 I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing the beautiful Vilankulos and its inhabitants. They often gave me little things like fruits and souvenirs and some even invited me into their homes for dinner. For us, they may seem as little things, but for them, it mean a lot considering the relatively high costs for them to carry out these acts of kindness. With good grace I’d like to give them back at least a bit of their unbelievable generosity. It is unfortunate to say that sadly, they don’t get support from their own government.
