The path toward my music
My name is Bruno. I was born in Portugal, where I grew up surrounded by music, between the piano and percussion instruments. At eighteen, I left my country for Switzerland, where I first worked cleaning hotels before feeling a deep need to find meaning again.
That’s when I decided to return fully to music. While working, I resumed my studies for eleven years : drums and jazz at the Conservatory of Montreux and the EJMA, then a Bachelor’s and two Master’s degrees at the HEMU in Lausanne. Those years taught me discipline, patience and perseverance.
But still, something was missing, a more direct connection between music and people’s hearts.
The handpan, a life-changing encounter
During the Covid period, I discovered the handpan, an instrument born in Switzerland, and began playing in the streets. It was a revelation : this instrument had the power to soothe, to bring people together and to give hope.
That’s when I knew I had finally found my path. The handpan allowed me to unite everything I carried within : technique, emotion and the simplicity of sharing. Through encounters and opportunities, I was able to buy my first instrument and embark on a new artistic journey. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of performing and teaching in Switzerland and abroad. Over time, many people have asked me where they could listen to my music…
And so, the idea for this album was born :
✨ Gnome’s Journey ✨
A collection of original compositions, an inner quest filled with sincerity, vulnerability and wonder. Each piece evokes a stage of this journey, through a music infused by my influences : classical, jazz and world music.
How your support will make a difference 💛
After months of preparation, I’ll enter the studio at the end of October to record this album, an important milestone I’ve been preparing for a long time, together with the passionate team at Studio La Buissonne.
I’ve invested everything I could to bring this adventure to life, guided by the deep belief that this music longs to travel and be shared. But as an independent artist, I can’t carry all the costs on my own.
The production represents a budget of 10,000 CHF — including studio fees, mixing, mastering, graphic design, CD pressing and distribution. To bring this project all the way to completion, I truly need your help.
Every contribution, big or small, is a light that helps brighten the Gnome’s lantern. ✨
To thank you, I’ve prepared unique rewards : the album, an online masterclass, handpan lessons, personalized videos, and concerts.
-
The official album release will take place on March 21, 2026, in Ecublens, during the release evening.
-
The online masterclass will be available in spring 2026. It will include exercises I’ve created for my students of all ages and levels, as well as personal practice material that helps me develop my own playing, allowing you to express yourself freely on the handpan.
And that’s not all ! A tour will take place between March and May 2026, with concerts and workshops across Switzerland : Lausanne – Geneva – Neuchâtel – Fribourg – Sion – Lucerne – Thun – Lenzburg – Magadino.
Some venues have already invited me and I’ve pre-booked others so this music can travel and come closer to you, in warm, welcoming spaces with free or affordable entry for everyone.
If the album’s funding goal is reached, the next milestones will help to :
-
finance the professional video recording and editing of the pieces
-
cover the logistical costs of the tour : venue rentals, transport, communication and promotion of the concerts.
If this music resonates with you, come aboard the Gnome’s Journey.
✨Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.✨
My deepest gratitude goes to everyone who has accompanied me along the way, especially my dear students, the steelband Les Inoxydables, the Panjam association, and the Yishama team, makers of my handpans, whose craftsmanship and passion resonate through every note of this album.
