This is what it's all about.
In my documentary film about the 1971 vote granting women’s suffrage, I portray eight women from across Switzerland, all around 80 years old. They come from different linguistic regions and bring diverse perspectives – from former politicians like Gabrielle Nanchen to everyday heroines like my own grandmother.
My project is special because ...
This project is important to me because it makes memories visible and raises awareness that rights were fought for and are not to be taken for granted. 1971 is not a distant past, and especially today, it becomes clear how fragile these achievements are.
This is what I need backing for.
A significant part of the budget is needed for licensing archival material (from SRF) that brings the year 1971 to life. It allows the voices of the protagonists not only to be told, but to be experienced within the context of their history. The budget also covers travel expenses and font licensing.
