This is what it's all about.
The organization provides lunch for 57 children whose parents work in the quarry. The well water is not drinkable. Donations are used for food, the cook, and a water filter for the well. A monthly salary can be 50 €, 5 liters of water cost 5 €.
Additionally, you are warmly invited to a Sierra Leonean evening at the Labuesch Bar, Zur Kesselschmiede 27, 8400 Winterthur. There you will be treated to traditional food, drinks, and music. The project will be presented in detail in the evening, and there will be an iron art auction.
The event starts on November 22, 2025, at 5:00 PM with a welcome drink from Sierra Leone. Secure your spot and register at: noemi@labuesch.com or just come spontaneously.
My project is special because ...
The special aspect of this project is that Rebekka Ehret founded it single-handedly and leads it with great personal commitment, using her pension money for it. The association «Kadiatu’s Legacy» bears the name of the deceased mother of a boy involved in the project. On site, a cook lovingly ensures that every child in need is welcome, regardless of registration. Thus, the project combines personal dedication with direct, sustainable help for the children in the community.
This is what I need backing for.
About 1,000 Swiss francs are needed each month to provide all 57 children with food and water and to pay the cook a fair salary; the water filter cost is not yet included. Monthly, they buy 5 sacks of rice, 1 sack of onions, 1 sack of fish, as well as oil and pay the transportation costs. This project is intended to cover the monthly food costs and the cook’s salary. Additionally, money is being raised to install a water filter, which also costs about 1,000 Swiss francs, so the children can drink healthy running water and no longer have to buy expensive plastic bags, which are then burned and cause environmental pollution.
