Storyline

Camille, 25 years old, has come home for a family visit. The atmosphere is a storm of blame and criticism. Camille finds himself plunged into the past: An outing, an accident, loss. Loss of life, of control over his own body, but also loss of carefree youth. It is by articulating music, rhythm, and memories that he seeks to pry himself away from the drama and connect once again with the movement of life. Trapped by his suffering and guilt, his father becomes a barrier to Camille’s creative and individual path to salvation. …………………………………………………………………………………….

A comment from the director

This short film focuses on an intimate portrayal of the main character, mainly behind closed doors. The story centers on Camille’s mental transformation: He will slowly free himself from the painful memories of the distant drama and its consequences, clashing with his father who remains trapped by his incessant guilt and anger.

In contrast, music as well as a character from outside the family will breathe life and hope into Camille’s story. Camille will latch onto these positive forces in order to move forward.

I made the decision to withhold from unveiling the traumatic experience and the ensuing handicap until the end of the film, so as to underscore the sense of physical and mental imprisonment of the main character up to the point where he is psychologically free of these burdens.

The character’s evolution will be echoed in the editing choices, shots, and colors. The idea is to approach and interpret the traumatic experience from Camille’s point of view, a point of view which changes progressively. With subtle variations such as music, the same scenes repeat, but the interpretation changes. …………………………………………………………………………………….

THE DIRECTOR

A young Swiss from Lausanne, I have had a passion for cinema since I was a child. At age 16, I took my first step into the audio-visual field, founding an association for young video makers (www.jeunesvideastes.ch), of which I am currently president.

As a music-lover and musician for the past ten years, I have a particular interest for the role of music and sound in cinema. This is why I chose to give music a key role in this film.

I have currently directed: 1 short film; 2 advertisements; 1 small documentary; the video recording of 3 different shows on tour in Switzerland; 2 music videos

We need you!

Our budget is nearly complete: We are only one step away before our project can see the light of day. We currently need CHF 1,500 more, which will be used for:

TECHNICAL - Rental of lighting equipment. We have already acquired the rest of the equipment necessary; this is the final element necessary for filming.

LOGISTICS - Transportation, on-set meals for the filming crew

POST-PRODUCTION - Musical production. Since the music has a key role in this film, it is essential that it be of the highest quality. We will therefore need to pay royalties to use the music we deem best for the story.
