This is what it's all about.
Together Against Malaria – Local and Sustainable! Our project Fight the Fever was launched in 2020 as a response to the chilly reception our malaria film The Fever received, especially in Switzerland. It became clear to us: we can do more than just raise awareness. This led to a collaboration of actors from the Global North and South, aimed at leveraging proven indigenous knowledge in the fight against malaria.
At the heart of our project is the medicinal plant Artemisia afra. It is easily accessible, effective, and a key component of a sustainable strategy against malaria. Our goal is to promote self-determined healthcare in malaria-endemic regions while also raising awareness of the global dynamics and colonial power structures underlying the disease.
Every contribution counts – join us and be part of the movement!
Our project is special because ...
We are particularly proud of the diversity our collaboration between the Global North and South brings. Scientists, journalists, activists, and herbal medicine experts enrich our project with their varied perspectives. Through our work in Austria, Malawi, Kenya, and Uganda, we focus on sustainable strategies to promote self-determined healthcare in malaria-endemic regions.
In the affected areas, we emphasize preserving and passing on indigenous knowledge for combating malaria. Central to this is the cultivation and use of the medicinal plant Artemisia afra – whether for prevention, treatment, or as a natural mosquito repellent. Our initiatives include traveling cinemas, workshops on the disease and the use of the plant, as well as its distribution.
In the Global North, we focus on education and support. With film screenings of The Fever, panel discussions, information booths, and fundraising campaigns, we raise awareness of colonial power dynamics, malaria, and local solutions.
This is what we need backing for.
Help Us Keep Fight the Fever Alive and Growing! To continue cultivating the medicinal plant Artemisia afra and advancing our educational efforts, we rely on your support. Your donation helps us cover essential costs – from cultivation areas and water supplies to travel expenses for traveling cinemas and workshops, as well as personnel costs at our locations. Only with your help can we ensure high-quality work in the long term.
Together, we promote sustainable solutions and create a healthier future. Every contribution counts – join us!
