This is what it's all about.
The Finka Alexandria is located in the south of La Gomera, spanning over a total area of more than 2.5 hectares of land, characterized by a variety of terraced slopes. We are mostly independent and strive to be as self-sufficient as possible.
Currently, we are in the midst of an exciting renovation project for our headquarters, which includes the development of new cultivation areas, entailing significant costs.
The focus of the renovation is on the main house, where we are transforming the courtyard into a spacious living room to create more space for supplies, seeds, and materials.
Simultaneously, new cultivation areas for vegetables, chilies, and medicinal plants are being urbanized, with the respective beds being prepared accordingly. This involves the installation and laying of water lines, drip hoses, and sprinklers. Our hands are eager to use Sachos and Cubos – the most commonly used tools on the island. Additionally, we require a powerful, gasoline-powered garden shredder to produce mulch material. A simple soil tiller would also significantly ease our workload.
Your support in this exciting phase of transformation will not only help cover the costs of the renovation but also advance our vision of a sustainable and self-sufficient lifestyle.
We warmly invite you to become a part of this project and transform Finka Alexandria into a green oasis of self-sufficiency and community.
My project is special because ...
For the past 10 years, the Finka has been welcoming numerous volunteers, often young helpers from around the world. They eagerly contribute, gathering valuable encounters and experiences that they carry with them on their life journeys. The Finka provides a unique learning environment in several aspects: construction activities with a focus on permaculture (biogas systems, wastewater purification systems, compost toilets) take place. Simultaneously, handicrafts like leather bags and jewelry are crafted, various pieces of furniture are envisioned, designed, and subsequently built. Seedlings are nurtured, planting, sowing, caring, and harvesting occur. The Finka often resembles a melting pot of diverse cultures, with instances where four different languages are spoken at the same dinner table.
With your support, you contribute to elevating these experiences and their outcomes to the next level, ensuring that many more volunteers in the future have an unforgettable time.
