«Flame»

Entitled Flame, the album examines the nature of fire, which can destroy whilst also giving comfort, warmth and light. Gwendolyn chose the title as several of these works were composed during desperate and difficult times, and yet the resulting music is a source of joy and inspiration for many. On 4 November 2017 we will launch the album in Berne.

My project is special because ...

Gwendolyn Masin and Simon Bucher are significant musicians of their generation. Both live in Berne and are connected by way of a 20-year-long friendship. This friendship has led to passionate and meaningful collaborations. They formed a duo whilst studying together in Berne, and have garnered praise for their performances both in Switzerland and throughout tours of Europe ever since. Finally, they have decided to record some of their core repertoire with the British label Orchid Classics. The title of their first album carries the name that has become a symbol for their friendship and work together and the kinship they share through music.
