What it's about
🌸 ABOUT THE DANCE PIECE 🌸
I am Audrey, a choreographer from Winterthur, and on 2nd and 3rd of May 2026, I will be staging my new dance piece «Fuck it, I’m a flower!» at the Theater am Gleis with a team of 10 people. I took the first steps towards this in May 2025 during a short research phase. You can find some photos and videos of this here on the project page.
This piece has been with me for a long time as a thought, a feeling, a question: How do we grow in a world that constantly judges us by our performance and ability?
🌻 WHY I AM DOING THIS DANCE PIECE🌻
The philosophical and choreographic basis of the piece «Fuck it, I’m a flower!» is based on the central attitude: we don’t grow because we have to, but because we dare to.
I developed «Fuck it, I’m a flower!» out of a deep exhaustion and a desire to grow differently. Not faster, not more efficient, not more perfect. But braver, softer, more self-determined.
For me, self-care is a feminist act. A resistance against structures that drain us and keep us small. A conscious ’fuck it’ to a system that judges us by our productivity.
On stage, I tell this attitude as a journey in three acts:
I. Fuck – Exhaustion
II. Fuck it – Self‑care
III. I’m a flower – Blooming
Each act has its own movement language, its own lighting, props, costumes and musical atmosphere. These are exactly the elements I hope to realise with your support.
🌷 WHO WE ARE 🌷
I have been working as a freelance choreographer in Winterthur since 2019, and I’m incredibly grateful to be creating this piece with such a wonderful team:
Alina Aegerter, Sophie Larson, Gabriéle Andziulyté, Sheang‑Li Pung and Ginger Hobbs bring this work to life with their bodies, their sensitivity and their artistic strength. Each of these dancers contributes a unique movement language and presence that shapes the piece.
Franka Rosalie Feder accompanies us as our Care Person and is an important creative voice for me throughout the process. As a Creative Collaborator, she supports me in decisions that affect both the well‑being of the team and the artistic direction.
Gabriel Mareque composes the music specifically for this production. His compositions create atmospheres that carry the emotional core of the piece.
Adriana Carlota Berwert designs the set and lighting. She translates the idea of growth into a visual world that breathes with the dancers and supports their transformation on stage.
Mariane Justen supports me behind the scenes and keeps the entire production running. She takes care of all organisational and production‑related tasks.
Larissa Streule shapes our visual identity. She designs the flyers, the poster and the social media templates, ensuring that «Fuck it, I’m a flower!» looks as powerful on the outside as it feels to us on the inside.
We are a team of people who believe in art, who believe in care, and who believe in the strength that emerges when both come together.
Self-care behind the scenes
Self‑care is not only the theme of this piece, we practice it in the way we work together. It’s important to me that everyone involved can work in a healthy, motivated and respectful environment. That’s why we’ve introduced measures that, unfortunately, are still far from standard in the cultural sector:
-
providing materials such as foam rollers, massage balls and mats
-
clear, transparent communication about rehearsal times and expectations
-
space for individual needs
-
arrival time and cool‑down included in paid working hours
-
snacks and breaks that are truly breaks
As a choreographer and as an employer, I want to take responsibility. Because care is not just a theme, it’s a practice.
This is what I need backing for
We would like to use this crowdfunding campaign to cover the remaining costs for costumes, stage design, flyer and music.
Costumes for 5 dancers = CHF 500
Stage design, including labor = CHF 1,500
Flyer design & print = CHF 1,500
Music composition (portion of the costs) = CHF 4,500
Any additional contributions will go toward the dancers’ salaries, which are currently not fully covered.
