Who are we?
We are «GINMAKU Japanese Film Festival» based in Zurich, Switzerland!
For the upcoming 10 year anniversary edition, 14 films are planned to be screened. We started our festival in 2014 and this year will be the big celebration!
«GINMAKU» translates as «silver screen». A title that pays homage to the old masters and pioneers of Japanese film.
What is our goal for GINMAKU 2024?
It is our mission to build a long term cultural bridge between Switzerland and Japan. Through our film festival, we create opportunities to establish deeper friendship and mutual understanding.
Based on many resquests from festival visitors in recent years, we screen classic films from 1950’s for the very first time! A few film studios in Japan have projects to digitally remaster their classical films. We would like to contribute and support that project from Switzerland by screening their films at GINMAKU.
What do we need your support for?
Your contribution is provided for the screening fees and shipping cost of films as well as the printing costs of programmes and posters.
Together with our cinema partners, we aim to uncover new talent in the Japanese film industry through this festival, develop and grow together, and promote the cultural exchange between dear Switzerland and Japan.
