Who are we?
We are «GINMAKU Japanese Film Festival» based in Zurich, Switzerland!
For the special 11th-anniversary edition, we are delighted to present a selection of 15 Japanese films. Since our festival’s beginning in 2014, we have been deeply grateful for the support of our audience, crowdfunding supporters, partners, and everyone who has been part of this journey.
«GINMAKU» means «silver screen»—a name that honors the legendary masters and pioneers of Japanese cinema.
What is our goal for GINMAKU 2025?
Through our film festival, we aim to bring people together, strengthening friendships. Our mission is to build a long lasting cultural bridge between Switzerland and Japan, creating opportunities for sincere cultural exchange and deeper mutual understanding.
What do we need your support for?
Your contribution helps cover screening fees and shipping costs for the films, as well as flight and accommodation expenses for our guests from Japan.
This year, we hope to welcome more guests and increase the number of screenings, while continuing to showcase a diverse selection of films—from contemporary masterpieces to timeless classics.
In collaboration with our cinema partners, we humbly strive to discover talent in the Japanese film industry through this festival and to deepen cultural exchange between our two beloved countries, Switzerland and Japan.
