About GirlsCodeToo

As a Switzerland-wide non-profit organisation, GirlsCodeToo creates learning environments where girls can discover how creative, intuitive, and accessible technology can be. We teach girls aged 8 to 16 in a wide range of formats – from after-school courses and robotics camps to Technology Days at schools and holiday programmes across the country.

Our initiative is open to all girls, regardless of their background, and is strengthened by the diversity of our team. Because our dedicated instructors include university students, professors, industry professionals, and parents, we can present technology from many perspectives and show girls that there is no single path into the world of tech. In an increasingly digital world, girls need exactly these early, playful experiences to later make confident and informed decisions about their education and career paths.

In 2025, we once again demonstrated how high the demand for our programmes is: we conducted 105 workshops across 31 locations and in four languages, reaching more than 1,300 children. It is the second consecutive year in which we have offered over 100 workshops and taught more than 1,300 children annually.

Our content is diverse: we teach Python using imagi, robotics with Sphero and LEGO, app design, introductory concepts in artificial intelligence, and this year we also developed a new 3D-printing curriculum. In all our workshops, girls develop not only technical skills and creative problem-solving, but also essential social skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and self-confidence.

What Makes GirlsCodeToo Special

GirlsCodeToo deliberately starts where it has the biggest impact: when girls can discover programming and technology early and without pressure – at a moment when social expectations and gender norms have little influence on what they believe is possible for themselves. Through playful creativity, hands-on projects, and the visibility of our female instructors as role models, girls experience that technology is a space where they belong. In this way, we open doors that might otherwise remain closed and give them the opportunity to choose their future with confidence.

Many of our instructors are women; they act as role models and show girls that technology is not only accessible, but also diverse, creative, and socially meaningful. They share their paths, challenges, and successes – providing relatable examples that can inspire girls long after the workshop ends.

The reality still shows clear inequalities: in Europe, women account for less than one third of graduates in mathematics, engineering, natural sciences, and technology (STEM). Globally, women hold only around 16% of leadership positions in the IT sector. These numbers illustrate a fundamental societal issue: when girls and young women rarely see women in technical fields, it becomes easy to assume they do not truly belong there.

This is exactly where GirlsCodeToo comes in. We create early success experiences, strengthen self-confidence, and show girls that technology is a place where they are welcome and where they belong.

How Your Support Makes an Impact

Your contribution enables us to keep our workshops accessible to all girls – regardless of their families’ financial situation. As a non-profit, we reinvest all income into fair compensation for our instructors, high-quality materials, and the continuous development of our educational programmes. This ensures that girls from as many regions and backgrounds as possible have early access to technological education.

Thanks to donations and partnerships, the past two years have been our widest-reaching to date: more workshops, more participating children, and an expanded offering across even more schools. Your support allows us to continue these programmes, reach new locations, and keep our workshops affordable for families. A key focus for the coming years is expanding into rural areas, so that girls outside major cities can benefit from our courses.

At the same time, we invest in the quality of our programmes: new robots, improved teaching materials, laptops, 3D printers, software licences, and regular pedagogical training. Our partnerships and sponsors have also supported the expansion of our technical infrastructure, enabling us to further strengthen the professional learning environment we provide for the girls.

With your help, we can continue to advance our vision: reaching more girls, developing new course formats, and expanding access to technology across Switzerland. Every contribution – large or small – has a direct impact: it creates meaningful experiences, builds confidence, and opens future opportunities for girls that might never have been visible without GirlsCodeToo.
